PsychoMagnet
Hi all, Just picked up the POD HD500 in combo with a DT25 Head. Dialed in the sounds I want using the "A B C D" setup.ie. FS5-8 are used for switching between patches. FS1-4 are used for effects on the respective patch. My question is as follows: Is there a way to have 3 channels with out effects (ieFS5-7), then have Effects on FS1-4 (where effects are global to all patches)? ie. If I have delay and chorus turned on it doesn't matter which patch/channel (FS5-7) I select the effects stay on for each patch. The main issue I have with my patches is that when I switch from patch 1 to patch 2 and then back to patch 1 the effects I had set via the foot switch weren't remembered. I know you can use HD Edit to make each effects state to on or off for each patch but this would mean having a truckload of patches to compensate for our 150-200 odd songs we have in our repertoire for gigging. Any input greatly appreciated. I gig 2-3 times a week and want to nail the POD/DT setup first b4 using it live. Practiced with it last night and it was great going through a Marshall 2 x 12 box. Ultimately it will go through a 4 x 12. And for anyone wondering if a DT25 is hot enough for gigging the answer is yes, had it on 3 and it easily got over our heavy handed drummer who had bass drum mic'd up and an overhead through the PA . Average gig we play would be to around 200-300 people both indoors and outdoors. I only mention this because it was one of the questions I had before purchasing and no one could answer it. So there u go:)
phil_m
I totally understand what you're wanting to do, but, unfortunately, there's not a way to do it. I think this is an instance where having something that split the difference between a preset-based rig and a traditional pedal setup would be nice. The M13 kind of does this in the way that is has the autosave feature. If you use that it will remember all changes you make to a scene automatically and bring them up that way if you go back to that scene. The HD500 doesn't have that. I actually don't know of any other multi-fx units that behave that way. One thing you could consider is controlling the DT-25 via MIDI. You could assign MIDI PC commands to footswitches on the HD500 and use those to change the amp model on the DT-25. This would be a way for you to keep your effects constant and still have access to different amp sounds all while being in the same preset on the HD500. TheRealZap
why not just copy the preset to all 4 positions, and then go through each one and save the effects in the condition you want them to be (on/off) or maybe i'm over simplifying what you are trying to do... but this gives you all your changes in one FS, while also allowing individual control for on/off
