theinfinate
Hi guys, I am a proud new owner of the HX stomp XL. I have a question regarding the FXloop. I am using an aeros looper as an fxloop as I want to put a reverb after the looper which works but ive noticed that when I turn fx loop on it takes away the body from the tone, it just sounds so much better without the effects loop. This is how I have it set up - Stereo send into stereo aux in in the aeros. 2 x patch leads from L&R out (aeros) into L&R effect return in HX stomp. I have fx loop at the end of the chain just before reverb. Ive tried putting the reverb and fx loop in a parallel B signal chain but it still sucks the body out of the sound. Im thinking it is a phase cancelling thing Can anyone think of a way to restore the tone?
kduck
I don't own an aeros, but am close to pulling the trigger so I've been through the manual a few times. Nonetheless, everything below is just my brain droppings based on the aeros online resources. Have you checked your cables? (assuming one is a Y cable, since you are using the aux in on the aeros) Does the "tone suck" still exist with a stomp preset containing ONLY the f/x loop (no other blocks). Have you tried plugging the guitar directly into the aeros input (eliminating the stomp send)? Have you tried the main L/R In on the back of the aeros vs. the aux input? Have you checked the input/output routing and the send/return level in the aeros (aeros manual pg 26)? Have you checked the send/return level on the stomp (inst. vs. line)? Have you checked the mix setting on the stomp f/x block? Hopefully these will lead you in the right direction--good luck! Also interested in your impressions of the Aeros! The Aeros manual says the Aux is for a second instrument input. Surely the way to do this is FX Loop 1/2 block from the Stomp XL to the Aeros L and R In then L/R Out back to the Stomp? If I use my Ditto x4, Boss RC30 Loop Station, or even the mucho cheapo Ammoon Stereo Looper, I patch them in on the FX Loop Block and 4 cables making sure that Send/Returns are on Line level. It just works, no "signal loss" or "tone suck". Hope this helps/makes sense.

The hx stomp only has a try stereo send so I didn't have a break out cable for that, only had a trs to trs patch lead and the aeros has a trs stereo aux in so I just went with that way. I just checked and the aux in was set to inst not line so that could be the problem. Il do some tests tomorrow. Thanks for the reply man 1

Have you tried plugging the guitar directly into the aeros input (eliminating the stomp send)? This works fine, I just really want the loops to have a delay/reverb tail at times when I stop or delete tracks ( great for ambient looping) Ive had it for about a week now so haven't had too much time with it, ive had many loopers including software so im pretty savvy to the loop world. I find the midi maestro is kind of compulsory. So far I love it, its not perfect which I can explain more tomorrow but the developers are working on a new firmware to be out hopefully soon which will make to a better workflow, I do appreciate how they listen to the things I have suggested in regards to track locking and a few other things (loop decay and fades) etc...ask any questions you like and I will answer tomorrow ...
