Failed to load preset

Hi all,

 

I am running reaper with the latest version of helix native.  When i click on a blank preset the following error appears "Failed to load preset. File or directory path not found code -400.  I have tried this on multiple computers and all receive the same error.

You didn't say what your computer operating system is, but judging from the screen grab it's Windows. You also didn't say if this copy of Helix Native is the current version 3.11.

 

Anyhow, I use a Logic Pro X on a Mac, plus I also have GarageBand, Reaper, Studio One, ProTools etc, to run trouble shooting tests. In the last hour, I have updated the 64 bit Mac version of Reason to the latest edition and HX Native 3.11 works just as expected.

 

I have seen many error codes reported on this forum that usually seem to indicate a corrupt preset as the thing causing the fault. With this though, the screenshot is quite specific when it says "File or directory not found. I would guess that might indicate the something has messed up the preferences file for the plug in. You could try simply trashing the preferences file first. You could try to open the presets from Native in HX Edit, that may show if any are corrupt or damaged. Worth a shot.

 

Also, you say that when you "click on a blank preset" the error screen pops up. Now by looking at your screen grab, it looks like Setlist 1, which is usually the factory setlist, is not showing any presets at all, but it is at the top of the screen showing "US Double Nrm". Even stranger is that it looks as if you had clicked on preset 01C in the left column, which in the latest version is a Brit Plexi Jump, and slot 02A is the US Double Nrm. It appears something is totally messed up. On the hardware Helix units, the blank "New Preset" showing in a setlist usually indicates the it has failed to rebuild the presets to be compatible with the latest firmware version and you can force the hardware into the rebuild procedure. In this case, and if it's possible, then you could try clicking on the little gear wheel icon in the lower left corner to bring up the option to "Restore Factory Settings" which might fix it. Before trying that, please ensure that you have made backup copies of all your own custom presets. Then try the "Restore"

 

If this doesn't solve the issue, the best action to take is to totally strip out HX Native, reboot your computer and then re-install the latest version 3.11. Other than that your only other option is to contact Customer Support and raise a ticket with them to make them aware of the problem.
