imitacjaskajowki
Hello. I just tried to update my Helix Floor software using HX edit on my computer. During the update, the computer crashed and I can no longer turn on the multi-effects unit and connect it to the computer. What to do? Help me. Regards. During the update, the computer crashed and I can no longer turn on the multi-effects unit and connect it to the computer. What to do? Help me. Regards. I keep saying that I will stop doing this, but here we go - yet again. You don’t mention what computer and OS you’re using but I’m going to guess Windows. Also, because of the “Boot Failure” message, I would expect that you are updating a firmware prior to v.2.8 when the main Core changed. The install may look as if it is happening twice - this is when the core swaps and fully documented in the 2.8 release notes. You could try restarting your Helix while holding down foot switches 10 & 11 which will rebuild your presets to the latest format. If this doesn’t help in this situation follow these next instructions to the letter. Firstly go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select HELIX then go to the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" menu item and select HX EDIT, now select your Mac or Windows OS from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, the click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.11 for your HELIX. Then you will also need the Firmware 3.11.0 Flash Memory. On this page you will find the Line 6 Updater version 1.23 - you will need this too. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Then: Remove all the previously installed Line 6 software from your computer especially the Windows drivers and then restart your computer. Now run the HX Edit installer, this should now install the latest drivers for your system. Quit the installer and restart your computer once more. Make sure to turn off the power to your HELIX. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and HELIX. Disconnect your computer from the internet and ensure that no other audio functions, or background applications are running. In fact do not have anything running that may interfere with the install process - do not allow your PC to enter sleep mode. Ensure that HX Edit is definitely closed and that you have your HELIX reconnected to your PC by USB cable (do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub) and hold down “FS6 & FS12” while turning the power on. This will put your HELIX into Safe Boot Mode ready to reflash the firmware - You may see a black screen on your hardware, but keep going. Now, launch the Line 6 Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HELIX and the current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it concludes you need to perform a Factory Reset. When it completes you can install the new HX Edit v.3.11 software and you should be good to go. Here’s a list of reset options for the unit. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support. SaschaFranck
I posted this somewhere else already, seemed to have helped quite some folks: - Quit HX Edit! Don't start it again until you're finished with everything following. - Go here and download the Line 6 Updater (in case it's not installed on your machine already): https://line6.com/software/ - Also download the "Flash Memory" from there (it's the actual update). - Install the updater. - Reboot the Helix while holding down switches 6 and 12 (this will take you to safe boot mode). - Start the Line 6 Updater, select "Offline Mode" and see whether it finds your Helix. - If yes, select it and choose "local file". Point it to the Flash Memory file you've downloaded. If you are on Windows, make sure to kill the HX Edit Service running in the background (it does that even if you close the program). In case you don't know how to do that via the Task Manager, just reboot.
