sideshowsmitty
I purchased my Helix a few weeks ago, after using a HX Effects and PodGo so I was familiar with creating patches, etc. I purchased some IRs and have created some presets with mutil cabinets and they sound great, like mixing a 75wt celestion cab with a V30 or Creambacks cab. With two cabs, the signal/volume is significantly louder. So far I've only plugged into a DAW but want to use this at my next gig directly into the board, using my IEMs. My concern is that the patches with the split cabs will be louder than the combo amp or single cab patches. Whats the best way to work with this? I'm still a newbie to the Helix without an amp. I used the HX Effects with the 4 cable method through my Marshall mini jubilee, and then starting using the Podgo as my pedalboard with the 4 cable method through the Jub. I did a few gigs with just the Podgo and felt good enough to upgrade to the Helix which is capable of so much more. Thanks in advance! rd2rk
Levelling presets is an onerous and time-consuming task that we all must deal with, and there's no "one-size-fits-all" method. How you do it depends on the method you've used to create the dual cab preset. Not all cabs/IRs output at the same level. Different mics might appear louder depending upon how they cut in the mix. If using separate cabs in parallel you can cut the output of each path at the MIX point, or at the individual cabs. If using a dual cab block you can cut the output of each individual cab. You'll likely find that the method you use varies depending on the other FX in the path, especially when you use FX after the cabs. Finally, you can cut the total output level of the preset at the Output Block. I use the previous methods to get the preset right, then I use the Output Block Level as a finisher to match the levels between presets. This can also be done with a Stereo Gain Block or EQ placed just before the Output Block. Any of these three "finishers" can also be used to implement a "Clean Solo Boost". Everybody has their own favorite method of levelling presets, these are just mine. Have Fun!

To boost solos (when using the PodGo, which I'll do on the LT as well), I've been using a 10 band eq pretty flat with the mids bumped a tiny bit, and the level up 2.5DB and that has been working for me. What do you us? Thanks again for the response!
