dmcasas
I just upgraded to a Helix from a POD X3. My fav amp on the X3 was "1996 Brit JM Pre" which as far as I know was modeled after a JMP-1 preamp. However, I'm sad I can't find this in Helix. The most similar ones are the Brit 2204 and 2204 Mod, but I feel there's something missing from my old sound. Anybody who had the X3 missing this amp? What amp are you using on the Helix instead? Thanks!!

The Brit 2204 "Pre-Amp" model (not the full amp) on the Helix will likely be the closest.... but you really need to know what the cabinet emulation was on the X3 for that model so you can try to match it on the Helix. Sorry what's the difference between using the Brit 2204 Pre-Amp and the Amp? I thought it was the same sound On the POD X3 I used: Stomp - Distortion: Tube Drive Amp - 1996 Brit JM Pre Cab - 4x12 78 Brit Celest T-75's (67 condenser mic) That gave me a cool high-gain oldschool shred tone that was great both for soloing and rhythm with my strat. The Brit 2204 on the Helix can get a similar sound but I somehow miss the JM Pre of the POD X3. maybe I was just too much used to it. I thought it was the same sound The FULL Brit 2204 includes the power amp tubes, the Brit 2204 PRE-AMP is just the preamp section. The original JMP-1 was just a pre-amp... no power amp tubes :) That's why I believe a "pre-amp" model would be better than a "full model". Based on your X3 Setup.... try loading the following Stomp Distortion: Legacy > Chandler Tube Driver Amp: 2204 Pre-Amp Cab: 4x12 1960 T75... for the mic choose the 67 Cond. (remember.... 1960 is not the year, it's the Marshall cabinet model number. It's a 4x12 T-75 loaded Marshall cab) I'm not saying that will be the same... but it should be SIMILAR to what you are used to.

Just tried those settings... setting the mic to a 67 and using the legacy tube driver was key, for some reason I didn't bother going into the legacy tab before... What I hear now sounds very close to the tone I had in my POD X3. It's a very good start, thanks!
