Is it possible to send a MIDI performance to the POD HD500x, then back from the unit to the DAW?

Hi there,

I don't own a bass, and am using the Ample Bass P Lite ii plugin.  I'd like to experiment with other bass tones, so I was wondering if it's possible to take the MIDI info for a bass track, send it to the POD HD500x, apply the pod's amp models, fx etc., then send it back to the DAW?

How does one do this?  Is there an interface w/ MIDI inputs/outputs you'd recommend?  Any tutorials that show how to achieve what I'm describing?

Thanks in advance?

No that’s not possible for a couple of reasons.

First, and most importantly, the HD500X processes audio, not midi. It recognizes and responds to certain midi command and control messages as described in the manual but you can’t set a HD500X Input block to the MDI In port.

Secondly, here’s the info from the manual about the HD500X Midi Input capabilities:

POD HD500X will respond to incoming MIDI messages for remote access of its assignable Footswitch & Pedal Controllers, and for loading Banks & Presets.

By omission, performance oriented Midi events including Note On/Off are ignored by the HD500X.

If you want to explore other bass tones you should use another Bass tone plug-in that will process your existing midi track in your DAW.
