HX effect amp switching Blackstar ht5

Hi guys, new HX effects user here and so far it’s amazing.

I set up amp switching on a preset today. I only use the gain channel on my Blackstar ht5 when playing metal so I wanted to have it switch to the gain channel when selecting a “metal” preset I setup. Then switch back when I select onto a “strat” style preset.

the problem I’m having is that the amp seems to need to be selected on the gain channel on the panel of the amp for the switching function to work from the helix.

this means you engage the “ext amp” button to switch it back to clean. Meaning that I would need to put the “ext amp” on every other preset I make that would be on the clean channel

i was wondering if there was anything I’m doing wrong, or if that’s just how it has to be?

many thanks

Paul

5. Footswitch
The supplied footswitch is connected here. The footswitch enables you to switch
between the Clean and Overdrive channels. The Overdrive Select Switch (4) on the
amplifier must be depressed to allow the footswitch to work

You're doing it right and yes, you need to have an "Instant Command" set to "Ext Amp" on each preset to tell the HT what channel to be on for that preset.

You can use a FS or a Snapshot to change it while you're in the preset. I can't provide more detail than that as I don't have the HXFX, but that's how it works on Helix Floor.
