External amp setup

Hi,

I'm looking into a dual amp setup, and think that Helix rack might be a way to go, but I need it to handle the 2 amps channel switch separately, so one amp can be clean and one dirty or both can clean or dirty by the flick of a switch. Also I need to be able to turn on and off the input/output to the amps individually, and set up a loop to one amp at a time. I also need to be able to use external effects in the loop of both amps.

The amps I have for new is 2 Orange amps (rockerverb and thunderverb).

I have tried to imagine this setup with the Helix, and in my mind I believe it's possible, but I would like to hear if anyone has experience with this?

/Brian

AFAIK you can only control one amp's channel switching at a time.***

There's many ways to do this, simplest IMO would be (using 4cm) to assign the Output Block Level on the Left (amp 1) and Right (amp 2) Outputs to either a FS or (most likely) Snapshots. Just have the level change from 0db to -120db as required.

Just put them in the loop. Send>FX> amp input>amp Send> Return or Send>amp input>amp Send>Return or both. Order would depend entirely on the external FX involved.

*** You can get around this restriction using something like the VooDooLabs Control Switcher. This allows you to use MIDI CC/PC messages instead of the Ext Amp jack.
