willtoknow
I apologize if asked before. I searched first. Catalyst 100, LFS2 footswitch. Love the amp effects! Channel A has high gain, Channel B is clean+chorus. When I switch between them using the foot switch there is a painfully noticeable delay. If I'm playing 16th notes at moderate speed I lose one or two each switch. I just bought this amp from a local store, not sure of the firmware status.. Is there a fix so it is ~closer to instant switching between channels? Many thanks! W
rd2rk
Catalyst is a DIGITAL, not ANALOG amp. When you switch channels you are NOT switching electronic circuits (speed of light), you are UNLOADING a PRESET and LOADING a new PRESET. Just like on a Helix. There WILL be a couple of ms audio dropout. The solution is to time your changes so that you're not playing 16th notes or sustaining a note. If this is a deal-killer, return the amp. That is the only solution. Gapless preset switching can be done on Helix by sacrificing an entire processor to "Preset Spillover". It is available natively on the Roland GT1000 (uses chips of their own design/mfr). I've heard there are some others.
willtoknow
Thanks so much. I guess I was used to an old RP5 which had a much quicker response time, it died.. I can get close on an RP7 (still too slow though) going from bypass to distorted, but it's is not ideal as just a bypass isn't the best. I will continue my search for speed of light more well informed by your response. Thanks again!
