daveaphotopod
I don't have my POD GO with me at the moment to test. I know that you can send the main out to the board, at a gig, and the amp out can be used for your amp, but I guess my question is whether or not you NEED to have anything connected to the main out to use the amp out. Been thinking about it because there are some pedals I don't own, as I am sure is the case with many of us, that I want to hear through my amp. voxman55
The amp out is factory set to be the same as the main out except in mono. If you want to cap off anything from the cab onwards in your signal chain you have to set Pod Go up for this. Unless you want to simultaneously send the full chain with cab model to the FOH PA, it's pointless using amp out - simply use main out and turn the cab model off: p7 of the manual: 20. AMP OUT This unbalanced output is meant to send directly to the front of your guitar amp. By default, it reflects the same output as the MAIN outputs (except in mono), but it can be globally switched to be tapped off directly before the Cab/ IR block. This way, you can send a cab-emulated signal to your mixer (or FRFR speaker) while simultaneously sending a non-cab-emulated signal to your guitar amp. No point in using the amp out if I am not using the line out at all. I've also rethought this whole thing. I was considering putting the cable into the front of my amp, but the setting in the pod go isn't pre-amp, it's pre-cab (I know YOU know this, but I had remind myself.) I suppose I could still disable the amp, but as you mentioned, why not just use the main out if I am just planning on playing around with some POD GO dirt pedals on my physical amp and disable both amp and cab? (rhetorical question) The only question I have now has to do with the part of the manual you cut and pasted. It says "hey, send the amp to the FOH PA, and send the amp out to the front of your amp", but then if you put it into the front of your amp, aren't you "double amping"? (unless the insinuation is the amp in the POD GO needs to be disabled) Thanks for your reply.
