micklangenberg
Hi all, I’ve recently acquired an old Boss DSD-3 delay that I would like to pair with the Eventide H9 that I already have in the FX loop. I’m placing the FX block after the amp and cab so I can delay the amp sound as opposed to running it in front of the amp. So the signal is FX Loop L out > Boss DSD-3 > H9 > stereo out back to the Stomp. However, the Boss is clipping like crazy, it sounds to me like a line level that’s being fed into an instrument level pedal. Checked the global settings and the FX Returns are set to instrument. I can get the Boss clean if I drop the Send level on the block to -18Db. However the stomp only allows for +6Db on the Return side which is not enough to bring it back to a normal level. Also, it’s not clipping when placed in front of the HX. Anyone that’s had this or a similar experience?
Schmalle
That's normal with pedals that assume instrument level. Lower the amp block's Ch Vol until it's as loud as bypassed. Now the FX Loop shouldn't clip with default settings. If you need more make up gain the Output block has plenty. Also setting Global Settings->Output Level to Line helps getting a little more output.
