drive it via Helix Native to see what it sounds like?

Hi,

FYI :- Helix Native is the essentially the software engine that is used in the other Line 6 hardware units, therefore sonically there's no difference.

The downside to using the Native is you have no physical Send/Return, FX Loop and Looper so those options are not available.

Command Centre Assignments are not supported by Native and are ignored in any presets that are imported.

There are also issues with Helix hardware controller assignments -  see page 20 of Helix Native Pilot's Guide.

You might need a MIDI controller for expression pedal use.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

thanks for the feedback on this. TBH I tried using my Scarlett I/F using the line out straight in to my Blackstar StJames input and running Helix via Garageband.

theres one thought that comes to mind.

Guitar in to the amp sounds 3D.  Guitar via Helix sounds 2D. yes I did turn off the cabsims!

So will get to a shop and try out the actual set up with hardware.

Hi,

One thought that comes to mind is, as I mentioned in my earlier post, using HX Native doesn’t give you the physical hardware connections to allow you to use the FX Loop on you Blackstar. Simply jacking into the front of the amp may not be the best way to evaluate this, plus your St.James has a built in reverb. Is that on, or are you using the time based effects in Native into the front of the amp?

Anyhow, you really need to assess the hardware out in the real world, using whatever will be you final output - 4 Cable Method to real amp and cab, or into a Powercab, or through studio monitors.

Hope this helps/makes sense
