Helix Control intermittent power.

Hi.

Ive got the Control footswitch plugged into Helix Rack and the socket labelled 'Host' on the back of the Control seems to have gone dodgy, wiggling the plug power cycles the Control pedal. To get it fixed is going to cost at least fifty pounds per hour at the place I use, plus parts. I've no idea how to fix it myself and I see secondhand ones coming up on Ebay and the like for 150 to 200 quid. Is it sensible to just junk the one I have and grab another or is there another option?

Thanks.

Visually inspect the pins inside the Host jack and the connecting cable. This connection is a regular RJ-45 type that’s also used in a VDI (Variax) connection. Sometimes the pins get bent, causing  problems. If you see anything out of alignment you can create a J-hook tool out of a twisty wire and straighten the pins out again. The hook just has to be thin enough to get between the pins and strong enough to lift/bend the pins without pulling them out.

You could also test the cable by temporarily using a regular RJ-45 cable. If you discover that the problem is just the cable you can replace it.
