Browsing Line 6 CUSTOMTONES

I'm trying to browse through the presets available in the CUSTOMTONES section for the Catalyst. There are only 10 presets on the page. I've also searched for presets and some of the presets I've searched for aren't part of those 10 presets that are displayed in the CUSTOMTONES page for Catalyst. 

 

How do you scroll from one page of presets to the next? I don't see any previous or next buttons.

I know for a fact there there are more than 10 presets uploaded to CUSTOMTONE for the Catalyst. I guess the only to find them is to search for something that you don't even know exists. What a stupid design.

Not to be contentious, but words have meanings.

"I know for a fact" means that it can be proven (FACT), and that you HAVE proven it (I KNOW).

There's lots of people searching for Bigfoot and Space Aliens.

People who search for things that they don't even know exist because they KNOW FOR A FACT that they exist.

Yep, makes perfect sense! It's part of what makes us human.

We're a race of explorers and adventurers. If we weren't always searching for things we don't even know exist, nothing would ever be discovered.

When you discover those undiscovered Catalyst presets PLEASE come back and document your discoveries.

You ARE being contentious and, frankly, gaslighting. But here are the steps to reproduce the issue. 

 

1) Browse to CUSTOMTONE for the HX Effects.

2) The list shows 10 presets

3) Search for "pink"

4) This list shows 4 pages of presets for the HX Effects and the ability to move from one page to the next with pagination controls at the bottom

 

So that means, there are at least 40 presets in CUSTOMTONE, but it only shows a maximum of 10 on the CUSTOMTONE front page (non-search page) with no means to page from one page of results to the next. 

 

You can do the same for Catalyst. 

 

1) Browse to CUSTOMTONE for Catalyst

2) The list shows 10 presets

3) Use Find in Page and search for "hurricane"

4) You'll see that there is no preset which contains the word "hurricane"

5) Now, in the search field, type "hurricane"

6) One result comes up even though that result was not in the list of 10 results displayed when you first open CUSTOMTONE

 

I'm a software engineer. I've been a software engineer for 32 years. Part of being of software engineer means knowing how to unit test your own code, so I have a lot of experience finding and fixing bugs. This is a bug.

Or to make it even easier...

 

1) Browse to CUSTOMTONE

2) Note the names of the 10 presets listed (the default sort is by Rating)

3) Now sort by Song

4) You'll notice that a preset named "Delay Streets" comes up in the list after sorting by Song. That preset is not in the original list of presets that are displayed in step 2 above

you are correct, i was on that section, a few weeks back and downloaded around 47 tones, choosing from 8-10 pages.
maybe we should contact support and get them to fix it.

I always have to look up "gaslighting" because it's one of those BS new age psychology terms that people who don't like being challenged like to use to make it look like the challenge was some sort of personal attack. Usually, that's exactly what they're doing with that response. Wait... was that a personal attack?

 

First off, don't take yourself so seriously.

You made a statement of FACT followed by a snide criticism of L6.

I challenged you to prove that statement and, TBH, I was being a bit silly in my response.

My bad for assuming that you might have a sense of humor.

 

I challenged your statement, and you came up with exceptions.

WOW! You were RIGHT! There's more than 10! 

When I entered CATALYST as a search term I came up with 11, and some of those aren't in the list you get when you click on the amp pictures.

 

Obviously a defective search engine design!

 

What a bunch of stupid (your term) designers those L6 programmers are!

 

But seriously, I'll give you the standard disclaimer which, as someone with only 5 posts, you might not be aware of:

 

"Nobody from L6 hangs out here. This is a user-to-user help forum."

 

So, having discovered a SERIOUS BUG that obviously bothers you A LOT, I recommend that you report this bug by opening a support ticket so that you can make someone from L6 aware of the problem so that they can pass it up the ladder to someone who might take concrete steps to resolve the problem.

 

The community will be most appreciative of your efforts, and I mean that most sincere...

I called the design stupid. Which it is. I said nothing about their developers. This is what I do for a living, so I know how incredibly simple it would be to add it and it really bothers me that other items such as their sort feature is obviously broken. It’s speaks to pretty shoddy qa work. 
 

By the way, I have a sense of humor. You’re just not nearly as funny as you believe you are.

Begs the question why they changed it? Once you get past the neat tie into the products you have, I’m struggling to see any further point in what has been done but I do think it’s taken a step backwards from what it was overall.
 

Difference is I’ve raised a support ticket but not on any product as the problem is to do with the website functionality that hosts the Customtone data

 

Remains to be seen whether it makes any difference, but if don’t try…

What I said, given we now seem to have all tones there now is as follows:

 

Custom tone search functionality has taken a step backwards after its recent redesign as follows:

Default search of Rating - search by date is a far more useful default, previously I could quickly see if there was anything new to decide whether to bother starting to check out further. Since the recent Customtone changes you have to scroll and select the date option instead of the default Rating option setting but when you do you get the oldest preset showing first so then have to scroll through to the end page of many to see if there are any new presets worth checking out and start from the bottom of that last page. There is no sort by oldest or newest option.
This search functionality is counterintuitive and a big step backwards from what it was.

Is this change intentional or is it a bug?

OOPS! There I go again... ;-)

Not to be argumentative, but gaslighting is not a modern, new term. It came from an OOOOLD film called fanny by gaslight where this guy made his wife think she was going insane for a bunch of reasons.Meanings can extend beyond our lifetimes and generations.

Line 6 fixed this big. They added a paging control at the bottom. Sorting still doesn’t work, but it’s a lot more usable now.
