romanowe
Looking for some good help with my send/return block on a HX Stomp. I have had the unit for 4 years now and 8 months ago moved to Tonex for amp modeling, and using the HXS for some routing/modulation. Signal path was guitar->comp/VP/drives->HX Stomp for modulation->Stereo send->stereo delay/verb->Dual Tonex->Stereo Return for HXS->headphone or line out for FOH. Originally thought I had an issue with the Tonex outputs now working as I wasn't getting the amps, but it's been isolated to the HXS. I have reverted to older firmware, performed multiple factory resets and tried multiple cables with no avail. I changed my signal to go through all of my outboard pedals->tonex-> input L/R on the HXS it worked, to a degree. I have to have the send return block in my signal path on the HXS for it to work... If i go direct from my guitar to the HXS into the L input, I get no signal unless I have a send/return block. Initial troubleshooting was inaccurate, I had left a delay block on my HXS. *Original* I have been running dual tonex for about eight months with outboard pedals and a HX Stomp. Signal path is guitar->comp/VP/drives->HX Stomp for modulation->Stereo send->stereo delay/verb->Dual TOnex->Stereo Return for HXS. This morning I unpacked my board and fired it up in the basement and I had no "amp" output from either Tonex into the HXS. Both tonex pedals passed the "dry"signal from my outboard pedals through the tonex to the HXS but with nothing added from the Tonex. Monitoring each tonex individually through the headphone out on the tonex pedal added the amp modeling. I've tried multiple cables and "recovery" on the Tonex pedal with no changes. I just used the rig on Sunday with no issues and hadn't unpacked it until today, made no changes etc. Highly suspect that both units would lose all outputs at the same time. rd2rk
I'm not at all sure what all you're doing, more complicated than I've time to figure out, but here's a simple bottom-line reality for you to start with. If your FX SEND is connected to SOMETHING you need a SEND BLOCK in your signal chain. If you want the signal to return from that SOMETHING you need a SEND/RETURN Block or separate SEND and RETURN Blocks in your signal chain. If you use separate SEND and RETURN Blocks you probably want the DRY THRU parameter of the SEND Block set to -120db UNLESS you want a MIX of the DRY and EFFECTED signals. My HXS/ToneX signal chain is: Gtr>WAH>HXS Input>HXS FX> SEND/RETURN Block (Stereo if you're using 2 ToneX)> Send L (TRS to Dual Mono if 2 ToneX)>ToneX Input(s)> ToneX Output(s)> Return L(L+R if 2 ToneX)>HXS FX> HXS Main Out(s). Your SEND/RETURN Global Settings should be INSTRUMENT (ToneX In/Out are BOTH Instrument Level). Hope that helps.
