littlespaceman
The main reason I sold my Catalyst Mk 1 is that the FX loop was fixed in place pre the effects block, meaning the Catalyst was useless with a looper as any delay effect you added would affect the entire loop, resulting in a complete mess of noise. In comparison the Boss Katana software allows you to change the fx loop position per preset, so you can place it pre or post the effects. Does anyone know if the Catalyst firmware update and/or the new CX amps have this feature?
EddieTheTrooper
Hi. Some guy asked your question here. Check around 11 minute. Unfortunately I still don't know. This guy who is answering that question seems not sure but looks like he suggest to use looper in FX loop. So maybe it is worth trying. Sadly I cant check this for you. I don't have looper and other pedals to check. Maybe try to contact Line 6 support. They had been always answering my questions. I can send them message because in the future I could be interested using looper with Cat, but you should better describe the issue with looper than me

Herę is what answered me suuport: Quote the CX series has the same firmware like a previous (updated) Catalyst It is the same amp, apart from some design changes, so no change here, the FX Loop is fixed in it's position and cannot be moved
yago76
I was trying to figure out hot to make this working, and the only solution (that I've not tested yet) is to use a time and reverb unit before the looper and not use the FX in the Catalyst. I'll try it with the new Valenton GP-5 (it's tiny) so I can use the amp sounds. Also, I'll try the time based and reverb FX in PRE position for clean tones, so I can take advantage of the Calalyst sounds. I know it is not the best solution, but I don't want to change my amd for a Katana or a Fender GTX.
