logicbdj
I would like to confirm a few things. 1. Once a preset is saved, it cannot be edited. I have one saved, but adjust any parameter does nothing. I then presume you have to put in what you want and that's it. Or save a new one in that slot. 2. Using the looper, I presume you cannot alter the Dist or Mod, since the looper is after these in the chain. I can hear Reverb changes, but that's it (it must be after the looper). And no Delay is possible, since it's disengaged the looper.
silverhead
1. That would make no sense. The manual says this: "All preset locations can be edited and overwritten with your own settings." Please provide a step-by-step recipe for what you are doing that leads you to this conclusion. Something more concrete and specific than "adjust any parameter does nothing". We can try to replicate. I cannot alter any elements of something saved, the resave it, correct? Now sure how that doesn't make sense. It's like taking a preset from a Helix or other such platform... making changes to that preset, then saving it.

Do this experiment and report back: 1. Load any one of the factory presets by following the instructions in the manual, pg 15. Play your guitar and listen to the tone. Change some of the parameters that should result in an audible change in tone. Do you hear the tone change? If not, tell us which factory preset you chose and which parameters you changed. 2. If the tone changes as you tweak parameters, save the modified preset to a new preset location (1-21) by following the instructions in the manual, pg 16. 3. Turn your POD Express off, then on again. Make sure the preset you saved in the previous step is active. 4. As in Step 1, play your guitar and listen to the tone. Change some of the parameters that should result in an audible change in tone. Do you hear the tone change? If so, you have just demonstrated that you are able to do what I understand you were having trouble with. If you wish save the modified preset again, overwriting the earlier modifications. If the tone does not change open a support ticket; it seems there’s something wrong with your device. gadcpa
Received my unit today. I’ve watched videos and read the manual from cover to cover and have to agree. When you engage the preset mode, everything goes dead as far as being able to adjust anything. And when you disengage the preset mode, it does not bring up the settings that were in the preset you just had opened. I see no way to edit an existing preset and overwrite it. You can create a new patch from scratch and overwrite a preset slot, but that appears to be it. This is a bit frustrating.

Step 1 is not possible as you can’t change any parameters when in preset mode. The only thing that has any response is the amp knob, and turning it actually changes to the next preset as opposed to being able to change the amp selection. I would open a support ticket to either log a bug or get instructions on how to edit and overwrite existing presets.
logicbdj
As with the Looper... you can have a tone with delay, but once you turn it to the Looper, you lose the delay. The only way to use the Looper and delay is if you have a preset with that delay setting.
grantm
You can't edit a sound in preset mode, but you can load a preset, then step on both buttons to exit preset MODE. (your preset parameters remain the same as in the preset, but they are now editable.) Tweak to your heart's content. Then just save your edited preset when you finish tweaking it. Preset mode is not editable but presets are. That's kind of the point. You wouldn't want to bump a knob while you're playing and completely change the tone mid song. Think of preset mode as safe mode. I really think Line6 knocked it out of the park with POD express. No, It's not a HELIX, but it's a great sounding, versatile, fun little box at a good price point.
