Hello and thanks for helping me in solving this mistery

I just bought this great talking wah pedal called EHX - lollipop fight which is simply a box with a frequency sweep filter but has no wah pedal. It is apparently simple to pair it with an expression pedal as seen on various YT tutos. They function by triggering the frequency just like a normal wah would do

and thought i would use the EXP 1 pedal on Helix.

I plugged EHX EXP to Helix CV

THen Helix Send into EHX Input

Then EHX output into Helix Return

I only get to assign the pedal to the mix parameter and get only the Mix : 0 to 100% effect

In clear helix never has any affect on controlling the frequency sweep

Hi,

This is from the EHX Co¢kfight Manual:

”EXP Jack – The expression/CV input controls the frequency knob. The position of the FREQ knob sets the maximum sweep range of the expression/CV input.
Expression input jack accepts a TRS expression pedal connector or a Tip-Sleeve 0-5V control voltage input. The expression pedal should ideally use a 10k potentiometer with linear taper. It must have the wiper connected to TIP and toe-down connected to RING. Some manufacturers’ pedals do not conform to this convention and require a special cable/adaptor to swap RING and TIP. Suggested Expression Pedals: EHX Expression Pedal, M-Audio® EX-P, Moog® EP- 2 & EP-3, Roland® EV-5 or Boss® FV-500L.”

After reading that, I think the simplest solution here would be to use a super cheapo M-Audio EXP pedal to control the EHX box while it is patched into a Helix FX Loop block.

Or, you could try patching the EHX box into a Helix FX Loop block, and use TRS from the Helix CV Out to the EHX EXP In socket. Now you need to open the Helix Command Centre and assign the CV Min an CV Max values that will be controlled by the onboard Helix EXP to send to the EHX. See the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual > Page 57 for more info.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

EDIT:

The Helix has a couple Talking Filters in the Legacy section - Obi Wah and Voice Box. Also check out the Seeker.

Thanks for your quick response

So just a recap on this and you can mark it as solved

I just got to map the pedal to EXP2

this YT video explains the easy way to do (starting at 19:00) and it does involve a simple manip in the command center

Thanks

Hi,

Ah! Yes! The splendid Mr. Richie Castellano shows exactly what you need to do to get your EHX running from the Helix on board expression pedal.

NOTE: As you started this thread, you must edit it to show (SOLVED!) in the title.

Enjoy your new wah gizmo.
