clipping problem and how to solve

I have an Ibanez 5-sting bass with an active EQ, plugged into my POD GO.  That is plugged into my TC Electronic BQ500 amp (which also has an EQ). When I play at higher volumes I get a clipping sound like hard crackle, especially noticeable on the B string. How can I resolve this issue.  I assume it has to do with too many EQs.

You could add a compressor to make the signal more even.  Or you could simply try to cut the initial signal of the bass by using the volume pedal block--remove the assignment from the expression pedal, leave it static and simply lower the initial input signal by a few decibels.
