Helix Rack Connection Interrupted + Blue Screen (PC - Windows 10)

Hello everyone!

I´m a bit deperate now. I checked lots of videos and posts here to get the connection problem solved, but nothing seemed to help.

I´m a Helix user from the beginning. I bought my unit shortly after the release and I never updated it so far.

So the Firmware must be one of the first ones.

From HX I only get the message "connection interrupted". The reconnection button doesn´t help and when I unplug and replug the USB cable I get a Windows blue screen half of the times.

I re-installed the software, tried several USB-cables, used all different ports on my PC, but nothing made a difference.

I didn´t try the factory reset so far. I have 7 or 8 years of presets there, which I don´t want to delete. Writing all presets down by hand would take weeks, I guess....

Does anybody have an idea, how to solve this problem?

Any help is appreciated!

Best,

Mike

The BSOD in Windows indicates a computer issue. Start there.

Make sure you've got the PC fully updated and running properly under the latest version of Windows.

I haven't suffered a BSOD since Win10.

Do a thorough memory integrity check, as the BSOD is often caused by bad physical memory.

If you get it fixed, remember computers 101 - back up early, back up often!

Hmm?

THE only time I had a BSOD on W10 was the first time I ran the Line 6 updater when I got my Helix... my first 'rookie error' - should have used HX Edit, not L6 Updater.

If I were you, first thing I'd do is plug the Helix in to another computer - laptop if you have one - install HX Edit (latest version + drivers) on that and get me a backup done. This will also help determine if the PC or the Helix/cable is knackered - might be neither...

Once that's done, and I got to the bottom of the PC issue (if that was the case), I'd be inclined to update the Helix, but that one's your choice.
