X3 live update required..?

Hi there,I'm a pedalboard newbie..I've just acquired an X3 live second hand and not sure if software needs updating.The guy I had it from was still using it up to end of last year and has since been stored,as I'm hoping to add some patches just wondered if software would need updating on it first.Any help or advice would greatly appreciated.

It probably does not need updating because that product is very old now in tech terms. The last update was v2.01.0 released in June 2010. 
 

If you want to be sure you can download and install the Line 6 Monkey program and run it with the X3 Live connected to your computer via USB. The Monkey should show you what firmware version is installed and whether an update is available. If so it will guide you through the installation process if desired.

Ok that's cool thank you,so I shouldn't have any problem downloading patches if needed..?

It sounds like the X3 Live itself is working fine for you. Loading new patches onto it today may be a different kettle of fish. In order to do that you need a program called Gearbox running on your computer. That, too, is 15 years old. Will it run on your current computer operating system? Can’t say. All you can do is try.
