therealmattfinn Posted November 23, 2024 Share Posted November 23, 2024 Ok, I have searched but not seen this as a topic, so I am wondering if I am doing something that I either shouldn't or just hasn't been done. I want to use my Helix LT and my Blackstar ID:Core 40 amp together. I want to use the FX loop to put the amp in the middle of my FX chain and then go direct to FOH from the Helix. I like the sound of my Blackstar, it just suits my playing etc. But I want the effects from my Helix and even if I come out of the amp, I would only be using the emulated line out (it has cab sims etc in it). So my question is, will it work if I put it in the effects loop or am I just being crazy. Looking forward to the range of answers I will receive! rd2rk Posted November 23, 2024 Share Posted November 23, 2024 Looking at the "Handbook" it appears that you would need to run a MONO SEND (set to INSTRUMENT level in GLOBAL SETTINGS>INS/OUTS) from Helix to the amp's guitar input with the THRU parameter set to -120db (OFF), then use a stereo cable from the CAB RIG/HP OUT to a pair of Helix RETURNS (Stereo RETURN Block, LINE/INSTRUMENT Level? Try both). To use the amp's speakers, you'd run a stereo cable from Helix L/R Main Outs (set to LINE) to the amp's LINE IN. You may need a special adapter to accommodate the 1/8" TRRS to the dual 1/4" needed for the Helix Outs. Use the Helix XLR Outs (set to MIC) for FOH.
