Bypass tube amp's preamp?

Is there an input on the back of the head? If so, use it. If not, and the only input is in the front going through the preamp, then it seems you can’t bypass the preamp.

What speaker/cabinet are you using? There may be options to connect your POD Go directly to that.

Amp has an FX loop. I normally use 4CM, but I don't think I should (to bypass the amp's preamp).

I think it might work if I go from the Mains out (using Line Output) to the Return on the amp.

I'm using an Egnater 4x12 cab loaded with T-75s.

Yes you can do that but 4CM is more flexible allowing you to use either the POD Go preamp or your Marshall preamp without having to re-cable anything. You just have to toggle the FX Loop block and amp model in your POD Go preset.

Well, I don't know what it takes to bypass the amp preamp stage. With 4CM the amp's EQ stack affects the sound, so it's still going through there. I've run the PG in 4CM with the FX loop on and off.  Same thing.

I have an old Marshall CODE amp and I've run the Mains Out to the CODE's Aux input and that works, but I'd rather run the PG to a tube power amp. I just don't want to cause any damage to the Origin.

I'll try running the Mains Out to my amp's Return.....

What would be the difference between Line and Instrument on the Mains Out going to the amp Return?

Double check your 4CM cabling (see POD Go manual v2.50 pg 9). When set up properly you can assign a POD Go FS to simultaneously enable/bypass both the FX Loop and the amp model having one or the other, not both, active at all times. When POD Go FX Loop is enabled and its amp bypassed your guitar signal goes through your Marshall preamp. When the reverse is set your guitar signal bypasses your Marshall preamp and uses your POD Go amp model.

Instrument (Amp) and Line levels are just different standards of signal level. Typically your Marshall’s Return jack should expect an Instrument level signal so that’s how you should set your POD Go Main output.
