Midi Note Messages to HX Stomp Synth?

I'd like to explore using the HX Stomp with an external organ-style foot-bass midi controller to generate notes from the synth generator, to use like a Moog Taurus. It's not clear to me from the midi implementation chart if it is possible to send midi note messages to control the HX Stomp's synth oscillator's pitch.  Is it, and if so, how should it be set up in the device?

Thanks much.

AFAICT, no.

The 3 and 4 Note Oscillators are intended to be used as Drones. You turn them on/off with the BYPASS function, but the note selection is constant.

You can change the notes by assigning them to footswitches (2 per FS), or, to use them in a chord progression, by assigning the notes to snapshots, in which case you're limited to 3 chord progressions.

The 3 OSC Synth (STEREO ONLY) will track your single note guitar playing, poorly.

In neither of the above would your Taurus be of any use.

It might be possible to do using a MIDI translation device such as a BOME BOX.

However, this is a rather expensive solution for the limited functionality which it would provide, given that you would be converting NOTES to CC#s to correspond with the HXS footswitches (5 max, two configured globally) or Snapshots (3).

The BOME BOX functions are also available in SW but, at the point where you're adding a computer into the mix you might as well just use a proper Soft Synth.
