I would like to use my HX stomp xl with a secondry unit in the send/return config. Im fed up of running out of memory, so my idea would be to run an amplifier sim in the send return, which would free up memory for pre and post effects, has anyone any recomendations?

Thanks for the reply, I'm not too keen on the Tonex, ive tried the small pedal, and found the results to be substandard, very thin.

IDK about the ToneX1 (the small pedal). Based on what I've read I wouldn't get one, which is why I said not to.

What ANY profiler (vs modeler) sounds like is all about the actual profiles/captures.

Hardly anybody likes the stock ToneX captures.

Amalgam makes REALLY good captures, and those are the ones I use. Nothing "thin" about them.

Additional considerations are that the 3 button configuration allows for the standard Clean/Crunch/Lead setup on each of the 50 banks.

Amps can be loaded via MIDI from the Stomp, and the entire bank in which that capture lives is then available via FS on the TX.

The new FX are quite good, sparing DSP on the Stomp, and can be toggled and parameters such as delay time can be set via MIDI from the Stomp.

EQ is straight up via knobs and quite effective. If you're not afraid to RTM and do some menu diving, ANYTHING can be adjusted with the knobs.

The new Editor is EXCELLENT, allowing you to edit the captures on the unit without loading the annoying original SW.

While the editor works for the TX1 (I've read), most of what I've just described (including MIDI) is NOT available on the TX1.

Get one from a shop (Thomann?) with a proper returns policy and DL some of the sample Amalgam captures from Tone.Net.

He posts samples for all of his excellent amp packs.

You might be pleasantly surprised!

Also keep in mind (IDK what your experience level is) that your playback system ultimately determines the quality of what you hear.

Apart from multiple headphones (which I hate to use, but, apartment, neighbors :-P) I have 6"Rokit studio monitors with a 10" sub, A Catalyst100, a Powercab212+ and a HR FRFR112. They all sound great, but different.

I dont play live so no need for power, my studio is basically a MIDI studio running Studio one 7, from home. I monitor via a pair of ADEM T7v's I have a focusrite interface, which currently is fed by Ampero stomp2, and a line 6 stomp XL, into the line 6 Stomp Send and return, I have an Ampero MINI, but feel as though the mini has too much on it and is difficult to edit, so Im looking for a replacement for the MINI, the Tonex looks good for this purpose, in its simplicity, but is a tad expensive, and after a bad experience with the TX1, its put me off. What im looking for is a unit that I can place in the signal path S/Return of the line 6 Stomp XL thats simple to operate and contains lots of Amp variations or profiler capabilities.
