Helix – Unexpected Controller Assign page

The following refers to Stomp Mode with a single function assigned to the footswitch in question, and it doesn’t matter which of the eight footswitches it is. It doesn't matter which preset either; see Templates > Two Tones A-B.

But first,

Whenever a Split block is configured as A/B - Min Route To A 100 and Max Route To B 100 - and the expression pedal is assigned as the Route To controller, the display shows (in the lower left corner) the instantaneous percentage of the signal being sent to either the A leg or the B leg.

It makes sense to me that if a footswitch is assigned as the controller, the display would show the same information except that there would be only two instantaneous values – one for the A leg and the other for the B leg.

In both cases, the main display should remain on the Home screen and show the current preset number and name. I am almost certain that Helix has worked this way in the past for me and that only recently has this behavior changed.

Now when the Route To function is assigned to a footswitch and I step on that switch, the unit goes into Controller Assign mode for that switch with the various parameters displayed across the bottom of the screen instead of simply showing which leg the signal is being sent to. Stepping on the switch again has no effect on the display.

With HX Edit running I can see that the Route To function is working as expected. But the only time the display screen shows the status of the function is when the preset has been saved with the Split block selected. All subsequent presses of the footswitch result in Controller Assign mode for that switch.

The only thing I recall changing since the unit behaved “properly” was to set Preset Mode Switches to “8 Snapshots”. Changing this back to “8 Presets” had no impact on the behavior.

Any insight into this situation, why it is happening and how to correct it, will be greatly appreciated.

Setting it to TOUCH also solves the problem (unless you're barefoot) but still allows you to quickly get to the parameters of the other assigned switches.
