chucknkd
hi all, new here. I have things connected this way: MacBook Pro usb to the HX Effects. 5pin MIDI OUT of HXFX to 5pin MIDI IN of HX ONE 5pin MIDI OUT of HX ONE to 5pin MIDI IN of the chroma console im trying to sync any time based FX in the whole chain to the bpm of my logic session. im able to get the HXFX to sync easily through usb, but everything after that isn't syncing and im not sure where the hang up is. I believe I have the correct settings on both the HXFX and ONE (rx and tx midi clock) but again, im new to all this on the MIDI side even if I could get everything to respond to TAP tempo on the HXFX id be happy as a clam any help trouble shooting is much appreciated thx! c
rd2rk
This is not something that I do (use MIDI Clock), so the following could be all wrong, but until someone else chimes in it's something to try. I don't think that you can CHAIN tempo between devices, and I think the sync would drift over time even if you could. If your DAW is the MASTER CLOCK, I THINK that it needs to control each device directly. Try connecting all three to your computer via USB. Configure them all to receive MIDI Clock over USB and configure Logic to send MIDI Clock to all three. I also do not use Logic so I've no idea how to setup Logic to do that. In Reaper the setting is right there on each MIDI Device Output.
ZoraLittle
Hey! I had the same trouble with MIDI clock not syncing right between devices. What worked for me was connecting both units straight to the computer and sending the MIDI clock from my DAW to each one. It kept everything on time. When I’m not fixing sound setups, I chill with Play Chicken Road Casino. It’s quick, easy fun between music sessions!
