Rumble_Arch
Hi, newbie here, just bought a POD X3 Pro rack mounted from Ebay. Using as a multi FX on a mixer aux send and return with inputs set to Stereo Line & outputs set to Match Studio/Direct. Is there a way to globally set inputs and outputs as every time I go to a preset other than 1A Plexi Lead the inputs default back to Guitar 1. Surely I'm simply missing something but cannot find a setting for this. Thanks in advance.
silverhead
There is no global setting for X3 inputs. You can create and save a preset with the Input settings you want and then use that as a starting point every time you want to create a new preset. Might take a while to go through all those lovely presets changing and saving the input routing. Kettle on! Great unit though and looks awesome in my studio rack. silverhead
Frankly, I don’t think the X3 is the best choice for your use case but I might be misinterpreting your intentions. You might want to keep an eye out for a good deal on the Line 6 HX FX unit. If you don’t want amp/cab modelling (do you?) and you do want stereo inputs the HX FX is a better option. Cheers again for the swift reply & recommendation. It maybe unusual for the way I have the unit set up (on a mixer aux send/return - where most would be using just FX like reverb, delay, chorus, flange etc) to want amp/cab modelling but that's exactly what I'm after. I put guitars, bass, synths, drums, samples, all sorts of stuff through all kinds of processing and effects. I've had drum loops going through guitar and bass combos, miked up and recorded. I'll be using it for guitar tones too and might have to change back the input settings if plugging straight in on the front panel but mostly everything goes through the mixer first, hence the aux send/return. I also really like the rack mount option with the X3 Pro. Nice one silverhead.
silverhead
OK. Then I think you’re stuck with editing the factory presets as you use them. You can still create the baseline USER preset and start with it if/when you want to create your own tones. Most of all…. Have Fun!
silverhead
Final suggestion: as you use each factory preset you might want to copy it first to a USER a preset location before you edit/save it. That way you preserve the original in case you want it again.

Many thanks for your help.
