using EXP AMP jack as momentary relay switch for pedals (EHX freeze)

Hi!

I modified my Electro-Harmonix Freeze so that it can be controlled by an external relay.
I removed the original footswitch and soldered a cable directly to the footswitch contacts on the PCB. This cable is connected to the relay output of my Nektar Pacer. The relay simply closes the same contact that the original momentary footswitch used to close, so electrically it behaves exactly like pressing the footswitch.

This allows me to trigger the Freeze remotely via the Pacer.

Now I would like to control the Freeze through the EXT AMP output of my Line 6 HX Effects instead of using the Pacer’s relay output directly.

My goal is to use MIDI from the Nektar Pacer to control the HX Effects, and have the HX Effects switch its EXT AMP relay, which in turn triggers the Freeze.

is this possible?

Thanks!

Maybe. Is one of the (former) footswitch contacts is at ground potential?

To test this perform an electrical continuity test using a multimeter: Does it beep when probing one of these contacts against ground (sleeve contact on a cable in the input jack)?

If not - it will probably not work.

But if so: Connect that (former) footswitch contact to the sleeve contact on HX's Ext Amp socket and the other contact to tip or ring. That should work.
