cFmisfit Posted April 15 Share Posted April 15 I am trying to update the Spider IV amp that I have and have run into a wall of sorts. After some research I have come to understand that the Monkey software was the way to be able to do this previously. It seems as though V1.52-V2.0 software was available only when Monkey was still able to go online. V1.04 is the latest firmware that one can download from the list. To use the Monkey offline method it says to have the firmware previously downloaded. This is where I hit the wall. If the latest firmwares are only available thru Monkey, and that software is now no longer online, how would I be able to grab V1.52 or V2.0 to be able to update. I would like to use the Spider IV edit tool but being on 1.04 I do not have that option. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. caljoejoe Posted August 28 Share Posted August 28 I have the same problem I can't use the Spider Edit software because my Spider IV 75 amp does not meet the minimum firmware requirement. I can't update because the Monkey software doesn't allow me to update the firmware because it says no device found. I have the FBV Express MKII as the interface. My Mac mini is old but still too new the use The Monkey software but I have an older Mac Book Pro that will run the software and also a Windows 7 laptop that will run it as well but still no luck. Does anyone know of a workaround? I've tried the Line 6 Updater with no luck. Thank you for reading this. I would really appreciate a solution. caljoejoe Posted September 3 Share Posted September 3 I am replying to my own post because I finally achieved success! I have tried two Mac computers and one Windows computer. My 2014 Mac Mini is not old enough if you can believe that (because it doesn't support 32 bit apps). My older Mac Book Pro does support 32 bit but I couldn't get it to work. My wife's Windows computer finally worked but not without a lot of trial and error. I had to download the Spider amp IV firmware manually from the Line 6 downloads to be used later. Then I had to click on the monkey icon in the upper left of the Monkey app and select diagnostics which opens up a folder. From there I had to removed or delete the only file with the monkey icon. Then with the computer not connected to the internet close and then launch the Monkey app and a whole list of devices appeared one of which is the Line 6 FBV Express MKII. Just make sure you connect the Spider amp to the pedal and the pedal to your computer's usb before launching Monkey. I hope I haven't left anything out. After working on this for about a week, I was about to give up. I was able to update my Spider amp's firmware and I can now use the Spider Edit app. I had a lot of help from Google AI.
