mgdm74
Anybody got a good starting point for the Robben Ford 'Talk to your Daughter' or 'Mystic Mile' era guitar tone? Been listening back to that stuff and he has a fantastic sound. I believe he was using an early Telecaster and the signature model Fender did for him - carved top, twin humbuckers PRS-styled instrument during that period and of course his Dumble amp. I'm using the HD500. Used to have the bean many years ago with the Dumble model. What current model would come close the Dumble amp on the HD500? Thanks in advance
mgdm74
As per usual Nico, your playing and tones are excellent. Thanks for the tips - confirms I was on the right track. Muchly appreciated!
WardMan
Great playing. I just listened to both songs - very well done. Nice tone. I used to have a Robben Ford tone on my old XTL but haven't tried setting up a RF tone on my HD500x. I'll use your settings this weekend and see how it goes. Thanks. JMC01
This post struck my interest as I too am a Robben Ford fan. Nico, I can't get the soundcloud player to load the file. Any advice?
JMC01
I can get to your cloud and see everything. Then when I click the play button, it acts like it is going to load and play but will never start actually playing. FYI, I'm not much a computer person, electrician by trade, and that may be the problem!
JMC01
Thanks, Man !! By they way, I really dig your playing, too. I'm using an HD500x so I'm converting your 500 files to the 500x. Could I make a request for a tone?
JMC01
Understood, Sir. Jimmy Thackery - Solid Ice from "Live in Detroit" video I have very close to the clean tone. I can't model his distortion tone.

billlorentzen
Take a listen to the divided by 13 for Robben's sound - that's what I use with a super strat with EMG pickups. It's got a lot of sag as well as brightness. Add a screamer for his rockier stuff. I don't see a lot of love for the /13 around here, but it's my absolute favorite with my strat (not so much with my semi hollow).
