pelayodcv
Hi everyone, that's my first post (sorry for my raw english, I prefer spanish). I'm currently using the setup that is in the topic title. My ask is about cab & mic simulations. I use always the Combo Pwr Amp as the Output. I find it has good bass response with my set-up. That output suposes that not support cab & mic sim... so Pre-amp is only working here. So, why I can hear lots of sound differences if I turn on/off cab sim through Pod HD500 Edit software? Keep in mind that I don't use digital output, I always build my sounds using that real setup. I don't understand very well, it's like there are some weird things in the programming of this unit. I don't really need an answer like: use the best that sound to your ears... I got that, my ask is about how the software really works and why there are these changes in sound... because maybe could be a high suck of tone with some configurations, and I really want to keep this as pure as it can, considering it is a digital processing unit. Thanks in advance! Best
radatats
Combo Pwr Amp output mode does not turn off cab and mic models. It only adds a universal EQ capability within the output mode setup page. Using pre models still gives you the ability to choose cabs and mics. Absolutely you get different tones depending on what cab and mic combination you choose. I play through a tube amp with 4 cable method using Combo Power Amp and sometimes I use the tube amp pre, sometimes the POD pres with cab and mic sims. You can choose to use no cabs with your pre model and in that case you will be relying solely on your 2X12 for flavor. If it is a high quality cab with good speakers that may be all you need. Just be aware that there are other tones available by using the cab and mic sims along with the deep editing features. Get to know HD Edit as it is all much easier on the computer that on the tiny screen of the POD.
