Seperate the xlr and 1/4 outputs for dual mode?

Hello! I am a happy pod hd pro x owner and I would like some help with this issue:

 

I play guitar and sing vocals so my set up on the pod is a "dual" mode and path A is for vocals and path B is for guitar.

The question is this:

 

Is there a way to send the path A (mic) only to the xlr balanced outputs and the path B (guitar) only to the unbalanced 1/4 outputs?

I mean I want to have them completely separated but each pair to be stereo (at least the guitar).

 

I know I can separate them by having Path A panned all the way left and Path B all the way right, but with this solution I lose stereo for both paths.

 

Is there a way I can do that? I have searched it on the manual but I can't find something.

 

I would really appreciate some help!

Unbalanced and balanced outputs are the same signals.  You can probably set it up for left being guitar and right being mic but that will only work if none of the things in the path are mono.

Thank you Chalie_Watt. You mean it will only work if for example guitar is paned right and vocals paned left. And that means goodbye to stereo for both of them right?

Right.  And you have to make sure you don't introduce any mono effects or the two signals will get mixed there and they won't be separate coming out the L and R.

u can use the fx loop and send stereo signal 2 ur amp and the xlr's 4 stereo signal 2 PA.

Did you read the OP's question?  Maybe I'm wrong, but from the information you seem to be giving, it sounds like you are answering a totally different question: How can I output a stereo signal from the POD to two different devices, NOT the OP question.... Can I input two signals into the POD, and get two distinct stereo signals in return?

 

I'm with Charlie, nope, not possible.  Two input signals as separate left and right mono output signals are possible, under very special circumstances if you are careful, but two separate stereo signals?  Nope.

ok, let us start from perapera’s routing schematics , as per ur suggestion:

 

1. We all(?) know that paths A+B r stereo (it is clearly stated in perapera’s routing schematics).

2. Bearing this in mind, start a new blank patch.

3. Set input1=variax mags and input 2=variax

4. Separate path A from path B right from the beginning of the chain

5. Place an FX loop last in path A.

6. Set mixer level A=mute, mixer level B=0db, mixer pan B=center

7. now what u have is the variax mags ONLY @ FX send TRS jack and variax models on BOTH XRLs (left+right) AND both 1/4" outs (left+right).

8. Place a stereo FX (eg delay, chorus, etc) on path A just b4 the FX loop and here is ur 1st stereo output.

9. Place a stereo FX (eg delay, chorus, etc) post AFTER mixer and here is ur 2st stereo output.

my answer is yes, u can input 2 signals in2 the POD, and get 2 distinct stereo signals in return.

Ok, I think I understand what you are saying.  It seems, though, that the signal coming out of the XLR and 1/4 cables is the same, though, no? (which isn't necessarily bad) And you are splitting the signal out at the FX loop level for signal A, and the 1/4 in jack and XLR jacks both have signal B?  That works.  I didn't realize that each path A and path B were stereo separately. and stayed separate.  Although, really they aren't, are they, you are just muting signal A at the mixer. 

 

Unfortunately, I have a desktop, so I don't have these options. :(

ok, I was talkin' abt HD500.

 

It seems fairly unbelievable how u can obtain 2 stereo signals from one instrument, but there r 3 tricks behind the ...scene:

 

1. split JTV mags from model

2. send one of them out ==> FX (TRS) send jack  and the other ==> XLRs+both 1/4"s (yes, same signal, so use either the XLR's OR the 1/4"s)

3. use stereo FXs 4 converting each signal 2 stereo.
