michaeldam
Hi, Can any of the Amplifi amps be setup as a flat frequency response monitor? Or perhaps better: can one select both an amp and speaker without any characteristic whatsoever. This setting would basically kill the box's natural characteristic. This would allow me to use my existing modelling pedals as well as utilising the amp as a keyboard speaker. Also looking at a 2nd hand HD500 I may be able to lay my hands on. Just want to be flexible with any new amp I get. Cheers, Michael
phil_m
Well, it's relatively flat and, technically, it is a full range speaker system, but I don't think I'd ever try to use it as as studio monitor. It's more like a PA system - pretty flat and good enough for amplifying a lot of sources. I think it would sound fine running a keyboard through it. So you say by not applying any model the Aplifi should sound fairly neutral. That would be great. My current Marshall VS265 colours a lot. Even if I bypass the preamp by feeding into the loop back directly, I still need an external EQ with some heavy alterations to make it sound more or less neutral. That's the only way to make the DSP I have sound proper when using amp and speaker modelling. I guess I can test this by sending some quality music into the jack input and listen how it comes out at various volumes. Any one else having experience using the Amplifi as a PA? tgastel
I'm doing this, with a Y cable that is two 1/4" male (TS/mono) to 1/8" mail (TRS/stereo) into the AUX port thus bypassing the effects and modeling on the Amplifi. Works and sounds good to me! Output mode on the POD is Studio Direct. Just playing at home, no gigging.
