500X > Vetta II HD as "STEREO" poweramp question

Hi everyone!

I am always hesitant to post questions that I've seen asked several times in forums before, but I feel like I need to bite the bullet

& reach out for this one.

I have searched around, in this forum & in others, & have gotten some answers as to how to hook up these 3 devices.

What I don't understand is how to hook them up for a stereo application. I'm sure for those who are in the know, the

answer is in the connections themselves. I understand effects loops & such but when we get into Y TRS cables, I'm at a

loss as to what goes where.

Here is the relevant part of my proposed set-up. POD HD 500X, Vetta II HD, BBE Sonic Stomp(Also a 382i rack), & Vetta

4x12 stereo slant cab.. I have a 50 watt Randall tube head that I've been using as a power amp until now but it is very quiet

in comparison to my other guitarist's Sunn T- Model Red Knob re-issue...& is most importantly, not stereo.

Like I said, I'm a visual learner & have a sort of vague understanding on the Y TRS style cables that the Vetta seems to call for.

Can anyone explain the best way to connect these devices to me or point me to a visual aid? Also I know the BBE throws a wrench

into the cog a bit. However, the rack version is ganged stereo, which I assume means the controls affect both channels equally. Is

ganged stereo bad for this set-up. Even if it is, I have 2 BBE sonic stomps for when I was just using the Vetta II and wanted to have

stereo output. If that is an easier option. Pretty sure I was screwing it up then too!

P.S. Please refrain from any Sonic Maximizer bashing in regard to this post. I want to keep using it for the moment & if you think it sucks, then help me hook it up the right way with the prescribed gear so that I might make that experienced decision myself someday.

Any & all help will be greatly appreciated. I know I've seen several posts like this around. Just not a specific point to point reference.

You'll need one of these cables:

http://smile.amazon.com/Hosa-Cable-STP203-Dual-Insert/dp/B000068O1P/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1409080694&sr=8-2&keywords=1%2F4+stereo+trs+to+dual+mono

Just plug the 1/4 outs from the POD into each BBE pedal and then connect the BBE outputs to the cable above and plug the stereo jack into the FX return of the Vetta.

You'll want to setup a patch on the Vetta that bypasses the amp modeling and has the fx loop somewhere in the chain. You also need to stick a plug into the input, otherwise it disables the output of the amp.

Hope that helps!

As dbagche said...

Take the 1/4" outs of the 500X (set their output to LINE with the little switch by the volume pedal) into the BBEs, then out of the BBEs into the Vetta.

You will need to take the LEFT and RIGHT 1/4" outs of the 500X into each separate BBE via two MONO cables. Then use a Y cable (often called a insert cable - dual 1/4" mono to one 1/4" stereo) from the individual BBE outs, into the Vetta's FX RETURN. The process would be the same with the rack version of the BBE since it's basically the same.

You should probably also choose to turn the Vetta's speaker modeling off. I'm running the same rig - without the BBE's - and I'm getting some of the best tones I've had to date.
