BerksBee
12 String Alternative Tunings« on: Today at 06:39:41 AM » Quote Modify Remove Hicould any kind expert please tell me, is it possible to get a JTV guitar (with or without Workbench) to recreate a 12 string guitar where each course (i.e. each pair of strings) is tuned to two different notes? (I don't mean a 12-string sound in DADGAD or similar non-standard tuning, more Genesis Cinema Show intro, or that Pat Metheny tune.)I also physically do this sometimes with a mandolin and an 8 string ukelele, but it would be really useful to be able to do it in the virtual or digital world, to experiment before modifying or building a "real" instrument. I'm also just itching for an excuse to buy a Variax guitar anyway! Thanks in advance!
Rewolf48
In a model only then no, you can only go +12 on each string, but yes if you mix mag pickups with all tuning on a model. You are limited to the mags being in whatever your standard tuning is
BerksBee
Cheers RW! I'd suspected that was the case, but the JT variaxes seemed (from YouTube vids at least) such a step-up in terms of processing power, I'd wondered if it might be possible. Do you know if any Variax software would allow me to do this without the magnetic pups? Many thanks for your help :) BB
