Kudos to Line 6 for delivering 7.1.9, which worked until now.

It was heavenly for a week and now that buzzzzzz that lingers on every note is back. It sizzles and cracks in the silence.

Honestly, this is frustrating for all involved. Line 6 suffers because this is a driver conflict and drivers are the lowest common denominator across a wide spectrum of gadgets of all price ranges.

In other words, those who count on Line 6 to put food on the table is getting madder.

Today, the sizzle is back and I ask, what's changed? Nothing! I restarted the Mac and launched the Pod Studio (first) and as usual, there is no sound coming from the speakers (the meters are working) and then launch Amplitube and voíla! sizzle and crackle and pop!

How depressing. Sigh....

They're working on it, the check's in the mail, and I promise not to go in your mouth, yeah we know.... they're working on it.

There is no one there to tell them how to fix this and this community has no answers. This is a repeat of 2009 all over again and the issues with AMD/Intel bugs in Line 6 device drivers.

Line 6's answer to everything is start over and let me know how it worked out. When you tell them you did all that already, they'll advise you to draw up an RMA or submit a ticket.

We all know what's wrong, Line 6 engineers got sloppy, or the job of updating drivers was given to the new guy because it's mundane work and unexciting.

All it's going to take is for a major player on the world stage to start screaming because his Mac Book is screeching through the PA and then Line 6 will finally get off their *** and do something!

There are a lot of musicians who are forced to compromise their craft because Line 6's drivers are screwing everything up once again.

First, let me say, Monkey is suspect. Version 1.59 was released to correct problems introduced by its predecessor, so we have that unfortunate slip.

My advice to you would be to uninstall any and all Line 6 software and start over.

Disconnect any USB products connected to your Mac Book other than your X3 and just slug your way through it and hope it works out for ya'.

Failing that, you'll have to sit tight like the rest of us for 1.6 device drivers.

What, wait? 1.59 fixed your problems?

It didn't cure my problem. I also downloaded the latest Pod Farm 2.55 released on the 29th of August, thinking this is the solution. Boy was I ever disappointed! Still the crackly noise with every note.

This is unsatisfactory for the engineers of Line 6. Apparently they're overlooking something in OS X 10.8's Core Audio APIs. I can bypass the Line 6 drivers and the UX2 and the sound is glorious!

Line 6, you've been relegated to the footlocker and are no longer part of the act. A Mac Book Pro has taken your place on stage.

meh, not a fix yet. I am reinstalling Pod Farm 2.5.3, even though Monkey 1.59 supposedly updated all drivers.

Monkey 1.59 gives me green checkmarks for each of the elements in my current configuration but the driver is wreaking havoc with my sound system.

I can bypass the UX2 and plug my guitar direct to my Mac and Amplitube is kicks neck.

What's the matter Line 6?

For what it's worth, I bypassed the UX2,( and the offending software), and my Logic works as expected.

The noise (distortion) is gone too. I ran the guitar direct to Mac input, reconfigured the Sound control panel, launched my fav software and everything sounds normal.

I certainly hope Line 6 reads these boards.

I would hate to see a meltdown of patience for a problem that could have been resolved well before now. Come Wednesday, when the masses begin installing Mountain Lion, there will be more than a few SNAFUs.

You're not alone. I've been kicking this can around the block for hours!

Line Monkey cannot recoginize my UX2 either, so it sounds like driver issues, or worse, their DRM scheme is overriding Monkey's better judgement, and refuses to recognize the hardware.

What led me to this conclusion was, a couple of days after the upgrade to GM, I break out my guitar and launch my favorite software and *distortion* coming is out of my cabinets!

This is sad. I hope there's a fix soon. Below is a copy & paste of what I said in another comment:

I am running ML and my Mac rocks! Maya and ZBrush are wicked fast and responsive and my Wacom tablet makes it so creamy I could pass out from blood loss.

But, if not for that stupid Monkey, I could be jacked in and making the neighbors cringe.

Same here, I too have a drunken Monkey who can't find my UX2.

I update to the latest ML drivers and still the Monkey is blind.

A really agonizing side effect is the audio output is crap!

Logic recognizes the device, as does Amplitube and the Pod Farm software. I am presented with a configuration screen show the default option being Podx, or some such.
