New firmware v1.8 installation

What is the exact procedure to install the new firmware v1.8 for the JT Variax? I recently tried and no dice.

Seems like it should be a no brainer...but that may be my problem...ain't got one.

Thanks in advance...those new acoustic models sound like an improvement.

Sorry for late reply. I have been on the road and did not bring the instrument. I did reset the factory tunings before I left and played the guitar a bit.

They haven't failed so far ....Haven't had a chance yet to reinstall flash memory as suggested by someone above. I will try to do that before I hit the road again this week.

Has anyone experienced this? I was playing and all the sudden it forgot the tunings. "Standard" stayed the same,

but the other altered tuning were all wrong...Drop D left the E unchanged and droped the A down a whole step...etc.

Also, just a general wobblyness and crappy tone.

I must say it doesn't engender much confidence in me for live usage of this guitar.

How can this be fixed?

I guess I can go through and reprogram all the factory tunings, but what's to stop it from just doing it again in the middle

of a session or God forbid a show?!.....Was going to use this on an upcoming tour but not sure now.

Here's the post I'm refering to :

Cables mounted in a different spot than mine up near the springs...with a different mount.

Fast Forward 2 weeks later!

Upon return of my JTV-69 from Line6 warranty repair, I inspected the tremolo area and snapped some pics of the proper "factory authorized" piezo cable routing.

Below is an internal view of the second generation JTV-69 Bridge and piezo cable harness assembly – WITH THE CORRECT Cable clamp locations! Observe the 1st white nylon cable clamp is attached to the bridge using a black Allen panhead screw. I discovered this screw also serves as an "INTERNAL TREM BAR RETENSION SCREW", and secures the white cable clamp.

69 Trem wiring harness update?

How can I get the new Trem wiring harness?...I've seen photos and mine is the old one using the plastic ties.

I've fiddled with it and made it better, but it's still not that great, new one looks much better.

Can I order it, have it sent to me?

        I've had two 69s too -- both have/had the same thing, models way, way louder than mags. I had to hook volume pedal between guitar and M13 and reduce volume everytime I used models not to overdrive my signal chain. It was major hassle. On first one that had bad e-string problem so I had no time to hook it to Workbench, but on second one I found solution by reducing string volume which affects every model (you can find on menu bar somewhere). I had to reduce every string's relative volume to 0.5 (scale is 0 to 1 ) to match magnetic pickups. It works perfectly now! Hope this helps,Sampo

Thanks Daf,

I had my tech set up the guitar, as it needed a bit of work to be playable and the trem was really screwed up...needed to be routed better in the body cavity and alter the wiring harness to not hang up and stay in tune....but that is another issue.

Anyway, he set pickup height so it was good and matched my other guitars. The models across the board are much hotter output, even the single coil models, Tele, Strat, etc. And much hotter than my other guitars, causing problems with gain levels on my rigs.

I read on a forum here about something in the workbench called "string volume" anyone messed with that? It suppossedly changes the level on all models....maybe changing output of the piezo...
