As I wrote earlier, I don't think it's the battery because the patches as such are remembered. But I will have it replaced anyway because it's now about 7 years old. I have decided todat to bring it to a repaircenter because I've had enough of this problem.

Surgefiltered poweroutlet installed but it did not help in the end.

Today I have tried to go back to release 2.11 but that did not work. BTW I used Monkey 1.59 and maybe that's not OK. According Line6 it should be done with Monkey 1.08 but I thought this was maybe a minimum requirement so 1.59 would also do it. But it did not.

I tried it several times but somewhere during the writing process of the first part of the upgrade, the Vetta thinks it's finished but the software is still sending data. So, back to reinstall 2.50.

It did not solve the problem, still a sluggish wah-wah and sluggish volume.

This is what you see if the Vetta is in idle situation (just changing the patch, so no turning of any levelknobs):

I have disconnected them once to make a screwthreads in the amplifiers cabinet but I have checked them thoroughly after that. (See: http://www.vettaville.net/Vetta-Handles.pdf).

Power: Did not know the Vetta was so sensitive to this.

My house has 4 electricity "groups". The Vetta is on one that has some devices connected to it that could maybe cause small fluctuations in voltage or spikes as soon as they are switched "on", f.i. a coffeemaker, a watercooker and the ventilation system of the appartment.
I have the Vetta for about 6 years now and although no new devices were introduced on this electricitygroup, there is one that now from time to time is switched on/off that formerly was always on: the ventilationsystem. About 2 years ago, I found out that this system uses a lot of energy (110 Watts). I'm not at home most of the time so now I switch it on only when needed. By the way, I never switch this while the Vetta is on but maybe this disruption can also happen while the Vetta is off (?).

Maybe this, or one of these devices, is the culprit that causes my Vetta to get a little nuts. I will check for a voltage regulator to start with. I'll let you know as soon as this is done.

Best regards,

Henk-Jan

But .... Edit 3 won't work with it. So .... Vetta firmare back to 2.5. I will probably need a lower version of Edit but I remember that older versions were critical on the version of Java installed.

After rewriting the firmware to the Vetta, for a couple of days it looks OK but then the problems return.

The Vetta remembers it's patches so it looks like the internal battery is still OK. Maybe I should have it replaced, just because it's in the amp for 6 years now.

Does any of you have any idea what this problem can be and what to do about this?

It looks like it reacts in "steps". Also the "Edit" button many times does not react at all so I can't edit any presets. Also my Variax can not be detected through the Vetta anymore? Anybody else had these problems? Should I do a factory reset or is there something really wrong/broken?

Best regards,

Henk-Jan

The new forum resets the **** and moan meter. Now when you search for "Line 6 sucks", you get a lot less hits. And it's got some bells and whistles to cleverly disguise it as improvement. Brilliant really. Plus, I think it's effective at weeding out the dessenting stragglers leaving only the fanboys. I'm just really obstinate by nature and I have a lot of time on my hands.

I love that answer from Line 6 because first, it suggests that everybody that had problems posted and all the others worked just fine. And "adequate workarounds" kills me. "The horn dont work but you can just shout BEEP BEEP!" It reminds me of an old Morey Amsterdam joke about the guy at the tailor with the ill-fitting suit. The tailor tells him to hold his shoulders this way and his neck that way and bend his knee like this. A woman sees him walking down the street and says, "Look at that poor crippled man!, But, dont his suit fit nice!"

I think overall, the good still greatly outweighs the bad with Line 6. Sure, some stuff doesnt work right and it should, they're not going to fix it and they should, but it's still a decent product for the money. Well, maybe not the Vetta........

Amsterdam joke : are you a fellow Dutchman?

In Holland we would consider the attitude of Line6 that of an ostrich: dig your head in the sand and all your troubles are gone.

Funny that Line6 has the Line6 Monkey. This must be a multi-tasking version: one that sees no evil, hears no evil and speaks no evil.

If the Vetta is the Flagship then the HD147 is more or less the Aircraft carrier. Crazy idea that one can buy this top-of-the-line amplifier but have to shop elsewhere for matching speakers!

If the Java-version would be the only thing to consider, it wouldn't be too complicated. If you upgrade you should 1) backup existing patches with the version of Edit your current firmware works with, 2) upgrade firmware, 3) upgrade edit en 4) restore your patches with the version of Edit that suits your newly installed firmware to get the best results. These best results mean that for instance the types of Wah's and the types of Delays in your old patches are not restored as they were when saved. They should be selected and saved manually on the Vetta itself. That is to say, if you know what you used. Therefor you should look in the formerly installed version of edit and load your old patches to check...... This makes me crazy. I have two partitions on my harddisk and I have the old version of edit on the second partition only to check my patches settings on earlier version. It also implies that patches you load from "CustomTone.com" may sound completely different from what was uploaded because you can't see the version with which the patch was saved. I noticed this with version 2.5 and stopped contributing and downloading patches from CustomTone for that reason.

Appreciate you agree with me that this is an absolute disrespect for all contributors of the userforum, the CustomTone forum aswell as for the owners of the top-of-the-line equipment.
