Re: DT25 Volume drop

Mesa tubes are just rebranded by Mesa and manufactured by JJ or Sovtek etc.. Go online and buy tubes from the tubestore or another online company. Always take out and save the stock tubes as spares. They are not good for anything else. Line 6 /Fender/Bogner/Egnater etc....are not going to give you good tubes with a mass produced amp. JJs' are good and very tough in these circuits.Remember EL84s' are designed to run at 100% dissipation.Larger octal based types (6L6-EL34-6550 etc...) run at around 70% when properly biased. EL84s' are designed to have a short life so keep several sets of spares if you are taking these amps out for any higher volume work. I am hoping to grab a used DT25/50 in the near future but when I do I will change the tubes before I use it. Good Luck and Have Fun!

The M13 ( which I also own) is for sounding like yourself. In front of a good or great tube amp I have found it to be much better than individual pedals.Never thought I would say that.I use it when I want to reflect my own personality instead of someone elses. When I have a high pressure covers gig and need to play-funk/blues/punk/classic rock/jazz standards etc...I use a POD HD 300 or Boss GT 10.Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

Listen to the guitar tones on the tracks and get as close as you can. In the heat of battle in a club getting close is good enough! I always tell the crowd -"The more you drink, the better you look"! Using the trial and error method takes more time yes. It also teaches you a lot more. I increase the midrange on the model or the amp for my lead tones just to the point where it starts to sound a bit unpleasant and stop. I do this because when that drummer starts playing and that bass player starts playing and that keyboard player or other guitar player starts playing that lead tone you spent three hours on at home will be BURIED LOL!!! I learned this from Will Ray of the Hellecasters who correctly points out that guitar players don't know how to manage mid-range. I changed my approach accordingly and do not have to play so damn loud anymore and I know my lead tones always poke through any mix.Probably some of the best advice I can give. Have Fun!!!

Bypassing the front and using the effect loop/power section is very cool! Put some good tubes in it and a neutral sounding speaker and you will really have something.
