What interface are you using, if I may ask?

I always thought that the PodStudio UX2 required PodFarm or an equivalent software to work because if I just plugged a microphone straight into my UX2, I wouldn't get any signal at all unless PodFarm was launched.

Maybe I should purchase a real pre-amp specifically for microphones?

My Rode NT1A sounds somewhat decent for clean recording (although I'm not sure how much better I could make it sound)

However, my Shure SM57, when used to record my guitar amplifier sounds extremely thin and dreadful! Maybe virtual pre-amps just don't cut it?

I use a portable isolation booth for my microphones.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by recording as "clean" as I can. In terms of EQ, are you referring to the plugins you get in a DAW?

The UX2 is my main interface so I only record with it, and use it as a plugin on Logic Pro.

I'm just not good at experimenting with different preamps and settings on PodFarm. I switch between the "American Classic" and "Vintage UK" and run dual chains.

My ears can't tell the difference between the 2.

Is it normal to use 2 pre-amps (dual chains) for a microphone?

Would you be able to send me the microphone presets that YOU use for recording vocals and acoustic instruments?

I'm happy to pay for it if it's any trouble.

I'd just like to have something solid to work with.

I use Logic Pro as my DAW.

When I record a guitar track, I first launch Logic, and use PodFarm 2 as a plugin.

After I've recorded that guitar track, if I were to remove (or bypass) the PodFarm 2 plugin, that recorded track is just a dry track.

I'm not good at tweaking stuff to get a good sound.

Was just wondering if anyone would be kind enough share their Microphone presets that they use to record vocals and instruments.

Perhaps upload it somewhere and send it to me via email.

I'm more than willing to pay a couple of bucks for them or share some of my guitar presets. I have some pretty good sounding guitar presets!

Yes the cracking noise occurs in both my headphones and studio monitors. (iMac; Mac OS Snow Leopard)

However, I've recently tried my PodStudio UX2 on a different computer (Macbook Pro; Mac OS Lion) through someone else's studio monitors (different cable as well), and on another occasion through a set of speakers via PHONES jack.

The cracking noise did not occur once.

All this while I had thought my PodStudio was damaged or faulty.

Should I deduce that the issue is coming from my iMac ?

I've got a PodStudio UX2 connected to an iMac (v10.6.8) . I've got a set of studio monitors connected to the Analog Outs as well.

Whenever I connect my monitoring headphones to the PHONES jack, there seems to be an intermittent background cracking noise.

However, I've tried using cheap ear phones into the PHONES jack and I can't seem to notice anything.

I've tested my monitoring headphones, cable etc. and there's nothing wrong with it.

What's causing this problem? Would a driver update potentially solve the problem?

Any help would be really appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

By the way, this might be an off-topic question.

As you've mentioned about utilizing the PodStudio USB device as its hardware and not the host computer's soundcard, is it normal then to use the host computer's soundcard as the default playback device to play normal music and sounds on iTunes whilst only using the UX2 as the playback for PodFarm? I'm referring to my iMac desktop.

So using the UX2 as my playback soundcard is the only "correct" way there is?

My netbook doesn't have a CD-drive, so everything was directly downloaded from the Line6 website. My Line6 monkey wasn't able to auto-update for some reason, so I manually downloaded all the drivers and softwares at the top of the list (I'm assuming those should be the latest).

I can't use my UX2 as my playback soundcard, because my netbook only has an Intel Atom processor, which just isn't powerful enough.
