For the volume issue, you should try a reflash. This is the same process as doing an update as you asked later in your post. To do it please use Line 6 Monkey.

Here is the FAQ for Monkey:

http://www.line6.com/community/docs/DOC-3898

You can also check out the video tutorial for Monkey here:

http://www.line6.com/community/docs/DOC-1463

The function you are talking about is called 'Tweak' on the XT. You can do that with just one pedal, but for the purpose you want, you will probably need the 2nd expression pedal (our EX-1).

Re: My Vetta Killed my Cabinets

+1 - you need to go to a service center. Especially since the unit was used, it is tough to say what the problem was exactly without opening it up.

To be honest as mentioned above, it would be very unusual that an amp would burn up a cab like that...the first guess from here is either an incorrect connection to the cab, a half-patched connection to the cab, or of course a faulty power amp section on the amp (which can be caused by the prior two). The only thing I would ask is how you connected it...what outputs did you use? What kind of cab was it and what were it's impedance rating(s)? Also were you using speaker cables?

But at this point, just call a service center and let them know what you told us here. They will be able to give you a better idea of the cost.
