I've been getting some odd issues using an "original" FBV with the HD Pro. Maybe it's just the way the patches are set up, but on some the volume pedal works and on others it doesn't. The same with engaging the Wah - on some patches it does something and on others it hs no effect. Is this normal behaviour and addressed somewhere in the HD Pro settings for the patch or is it a sign of a problem?

And how do I get the looper to work? ;-)

Interesting... In my experience it's better to add FX to the vocals on mix down rather than at the recording stage. Presumably if I wanted the FX from the POD HD PRO I could still add them later by sending the vocal signal digitally through S/PDIF?

Just wondering if there is any particular advantage to using the microphone socket for recording vocals on the HD Pod Pro? Is it a super quality pre-amp that will give better results than going straight into a recording desk?

Thank you for some interesting feedback on different options.

I don't think I can really afford/justify a DT50. I do have a Marshall 9200 power amp that I used to gig with as part of a rack system and I expect it would probably work well with the HD pre-amp models. However at 35 kg it's a bit of a beast to lug around, which is why I went down the Line 6 route in the first place.

For the solid state approach that MATRIX GT800FX certainly looks interesting. I'm in the UK so it appears from their website it would cost me about £450

Has anyone tried a Peavey IPR 1600? Spec says 300 watts stereo at 8 ohm and only weighs 3.3 kg (that's 10% of the weight of the Marshall 9200) and it looks to be available for as little as £219 ;-)

I'm mainly thinking about the HD Pro, but of course the question could apply to any of the HD series if you use it live with guitar speakers and a power amp. If you do, what power amp are you using and how happy are you with it?

I find myself drawn back to this forum by all the good reports of the HD modelling, although I'm not keen on having my "amp" modeller on the floor in front of me and (great sounding though I'm sure it is) I'm also put off by the cost of an HD500 and a DT50, which comes to about £1400 in the UK.

However a light weight Peavey IPR 1600 stereo power amp = £349, so would cost about £750 with an HD500.

It seems to me Line 6 could remove the footswitches from the HD500 and put it all in a box with a power amp similar to the guts of the Peavey and then knock out new solid state HD head for well under £700. Would anyone else here want one of these?

I know there are the assorted Spider Valve and DT50 "tube" creations, but where is the "son of HD147" amp?

Many people seem to be raving about the new modelling and FX in the HD500. Even in "rip-off" Britain the HD500 can be purchased for £409 and a light weight Peavey IPR 1600 stereo power amp for £349. Putting these together would seem to make a solid gigging unit for around £750. However I don't want my "pre-amp" sat on the floor in front of me (not very practical with a wireless system).

Remove the footswitches and put it all in one box and surely a new HD head could be knocked out for well under £700?

Hi spaceatl.

To ask what seems the obvious question, why didn't Line 6 just combine the HD500 technology with the DT50 to produce an all singing, all dancing amp?

Failing that, a head with a normal stereo power amp built in would be handy (such as all that stuff before the Spider Valve). Still, doubtless a rack iteration of the HD tech will be along one of these days.
