I've spoken to Line 6 service and they have sent me an RMA. I am awaiting the UPS shipping lable to ship this back for service.

Ashley was GREAT on the phone. Quick, professional, and helpful.

Glad I got it new.

I'm just logging this experience here for anyone else who has this issue.

I spoke with Line6 and was VERY well handled, imho. I am awaiting an RMA (coming via email) to send this in to have this issue looked at and repaired. We'll see how it goes from there. I expect great service from them, though.

Update: I did get the knob off (that was too hard... poor switch design if we're supposed to do ANYTHING with this ourselves).

No change.

I guess I have a service issue.

This is seriously annoying.

Re-installed the firmware. no change. I turn the guitar "on", and the button works a few times, then intermittently, but mostly doesn't.

I am attempting to remove the ****ing knob now. It's so tight and so hard to pull off that I can't believe it. Is it really necessary for it to be nearly impossible to remove?

Is there some trick to this?

Well, at least it's not working consistently. I'm talking about the button on the tuning knob that changes your switch position from switch position 1 or 5 to 2 or 4 (depending).

I remember this being an issue with some of them. Will a re-fresh of the firmware help or is this physical or what?

I got mine new in February.

Something like the X3's "piezoelectric" thing as an AMP model would be cool, in combination with the vintage pre (which is ASTOUNDINGLY good for what I'm doing, btw. THANK YOU!

I'd like to be able to copy and paste FX instances from one patch to another, and maybe even save them and recall them (in the software ONLY)

Also, in the software... I'd also love to be able to set my amp for a clean sound with the EXP pedal at one extreme, then just move the EXP pedal, twist the dials, and record the settings to the other extreme... right now setting up controllers for multiple parameters is a tad awkward... but I'm getting by.

There's a couple things I'd like with the JTV/HD 500 combo.

I'd like the ability to lock the volume and tone and toggle switches for the models ONLY. Right now I can lock all three, and the toggle still works for the mags (JUST how I want it), but I'd love to use that volume and tone for the mags.

Related... I'd love it if I could also lock the model selector.

But most of the functionality I "need" with this to do my two-voice guitar thing has been provided in this latest round of updates. Thanks, Line6!

I'd also like a setting to increase the quality of my playing... a "talent boost" effect. That would be AWESOME!

I have other thoughts for the "HD 1000" someday... but that's another story... I'm happy now!

OH... last thing... I want a teeny tiny little version of those new 10" PA speakers to use as an FRFR monitor.

It happened to me once, and the VDI cable was not totally tight into the Variax input. It doesn't happen as easily with the more expensive VDI cable you can get (that is also longer and WAY more durable) as it has locks on both ends.

Honestly, Line 6 tells us to use that cable and not a regular cat 5 for a good reason. Also, I think that the one the came with the guitar is really only for hooking up to the computer for programming and updates if you don't have a POD that will take it.
