That's just great.

What does it even mean to say the guitar input has 11dB dynamic range? I don't believe it could possibly be that low. That is probably the worst dynamic range spec I have ever seen anywhere: I think 78RPM records could beat it!

Could you check with the techies and give us some real numbers?

Any chance we might see that? You know, input level range, frequency response, distortion, all that kind of stuff.

Specs for Dock extension cable?

The Mobile In won't attach securely to my iPhone 4S because of the case I'm using. I would like to use a Dock extension cable, but I'm confused about which one to get. The specs of the various cables on sale typically aren't clear, but it appears that many cables don't support all of the Dock's functions.

Can you state exactly what the requirements are for a dock extension cable to work with the Mobile In? Can you provide sources for cables that are known to work? I need one with a slender connector body so it will clear my case when I plug it into the iPhone.

As I noted in another post, many things about the device seem rushed and not very well thought out.

Good question. The "Pilot's Handbook" points you to a link that is supposed to have this information: www.line6.com/mobilein/apps but unfortunately the link is no good. One of my several gripes about the Mobile In.

Early impressions:

Where is the design elegance found in other Line6 products? Too many "misses" to list.

Um, an actual manual? The minimalist "Pilot's Handbook" points you to three web links, but two of them don't work!

In sum: nice idea but poor execution.

Thanks, Line6Hugo. Maybe you guys might add this to your FAQ.

Regarding (1), when you are processing a signal, is the output just taken from the iDevice's headphone jack? And it is too bad that the device can't mix an uneffected track with a processed guitar input.

Regarding (3), it seems like providing specialized bass effects would be a no-brainer.

Also, does the app have any recording capability? This would seem like a nice addition, especially if it had the mixing capability described in point (1).

1. What is the stereo line input for? I'm guessing it's so you can mix a backing track (uneffected) with your effected guitar, but the FAQ doesn't say.

2. You say it's "currently" compatible with iPhone 4. Presumably this includes the 4S? Any chance you might support the iPhone 3GS (perhaps with fewer bells and whistles)?

3. Is there any support for bass playing?
