JVT-59 Workbench With POD HD PRO - POD HD PRO Edit problems

I just got a JVT-59 two days ago to go with my HD PRO and while using workbench with the HD PRO Edit program I tend to have blank values in the Input selections for both inputs. When I restart the HD PRO Edit program it will show up again. Not sure if anyone else has had problems with the two. I've also had it when editing guitars in workbench and select out of phase between two pickups that I loose sound from the high strings g-b-e till I switch too a different setting and go back.

Sorry still learning how all of this works together to make for the setup I've always wanted with one click chaning everything.

I noticed the same thing. I've been trying to get my HD Pro to even come close to the same tone I was getting out of the X3 Pro. The HD sounds to brittle and harsh when I compare the two with trying to get settings close between the two amps. But I noticed that when I run it with my computer hooked up the volume drops and the seems to get even more harsh sounding.

Yeah I had looked through that one also. I know I play a 7-string and everyone thinks I play the heavy stuff (which I do) but it's the pure tones like the Styx, Kansas and ZZ Top tones I'm having trouble with. But thanks for the tip

A side note I have a 72 Marshall 50w jpm head I have but haven't used since I got the POD X3 Pro. I also do Tube amp repair and all my customers find it so hard to belive that I use a digital amp.

I just got my Pod HD Pro after using a Pod X3 Pro for the last three years. After reading your great guide and playing with the unit for two day, so far I must admit I'm disappointed with the sound. I tried to follow your guide but for some reason everything is brighter and more nasal sounding. I use a Schecter 7 string with active EMG's same out put at the 81 & 85 set up. I've Padded down the input on the HD Pro thinking maybe it was overloading (never did on the X3). I've tried to use an old MXR six band eq before the HP Pro to help cut back a bit but still doesn't sound the same. I've tried to match some of the best sounds I had on the X3 Pro to the HD Pro and not even close. Anyone else find the HD series more bright sounding than the previous? Any tips on helping get the sound/tone closer to what I was getting with the X3. I've got patches I could send if anyone else has both the X3 & the HD still.

I've tried the difference between the amp's pre & with cabinet, with different cabinet & mic combonations. Just feeling lost now with the unit. Easy to compare the sounds, I'm running the dry out of the HD Pro into the input of the X3 Pro and running the headphone out of each unit into a mixer so I can switch between them.

PS there are many thing I like better on the HD Pro, just need to build the sounds I like (after I get the higher edge off from my guitar sound).

Sounds good. Since I've not bought one yet I'm trying to figure out all my options in advance. Yes I agree they sound like they are a huge step above my X3. I was willing at the time to give up some of what I love about tube amps at the time for the ability to have one pedal board and not have to have all those patch cables and have to try to switch different pedals to get to a sound I was looking for. I was more looking to keep my X3 as a back up since I know I've had problems with reliablity with Line 6 equipment. But I started to think what if I had a small rack mount stereo mixer to use between the HD Pro and the X3 Pro before my power amp. I love he mixing of two amps in the X3 so the idea of maybe doing a bit more would be fun to try. I also thought many of the clean sound in the X3 are wonderful so no need to try to reproduce them. I was just trying to see if it would be possible to use the FBV into like the HD Pro and pass a midi signal from the HD into the X3 Pro. Just trying to keep my option open and always love flexibity.

Yes brand new to the HD but love the way it sounds. Thanks for you tip will go read your tips tomorrow.

I started with a guitar port and loved how it sounded so moved up since then.

I wanted to see if anyone out there has found a way to use both the POD HD PRO with a POD X3 PRO. I bought my X3 PRO two years ago and after being in for repairs for a few months I've played the hell out of it. It doesn't get the same feel as my 72 Marshall JMP but I love that I can have it right in my bedroom next to my desk and put on headphones and play. I also don't have all the stomp boxes and cables all over. I've been looking at buying a HD Pro but wanted to see if t would be possible to use both the HD Pro along with my X3 Pro with all my presets I've already made up. I have a FBV pedal that I use to control the X3 pro and saw that it works with the HD. I figured maybe it would be possible to use midi out on one unit to feed signals for changes to the other unit. Any input woud be wonderful. Also what have people been seeing as far as how reliable these units are. I know besides myself I talked someone else into buying a X3 Pro (he bought it a year after me and it was $200 less by then), but he also within a mouth of owning it had to send it off for reapir. Thanks for your input.

Yes they are. Some very cool settings in there. Spend too much time tweaking tones and not enough playing!

Great to hear. I felt like such a Newbie when I had that happen. I was so ******. I don't remember touching to lock it but it did. Now if I can get my unit fixed (it reboots over and over ever 20 or so seconds).

That is my big fear also. I started playing more when I could just hook up to the computer and play and not have to go down and really crank it up. Sit in the bed room at the computer and play all the time. Now I have to find time when no one is home so I can get on the old Marshall but its not the same no fast tone switching. Guess I will use the time to start building the amp I've wanted too for a couple of years now.
