POD Farm 2.5 and POD XT Live MIDI Questions

So, I'm trying to decide on whether or not to purchase POD Farm 2.5. I already own a POD XT Live and would like to use it simply as a MIDI device to turn effects on and off as well as switch patches for recording and just regular playing via USB (no MIDI cables used). However, I use Reason to record and will be using POD Farm 2.5 as an audio in. This means I won't be using the DAW to control the MIDI paramaters.

So, here's the questions: Can I control POD Farm 2.5 with a POD XT Live via USB for MIDI changes? Also, can I do this without using a separate DAW?
