Re: Toneport D.I. audio level too low on standalone Pod Farm?

I'll add an update to this. The level going from the D.I.into Amplitube is fine, in fact there's more than plenty of plain guitar signal to work with. I can even use the pad and I can get a proper gain stage. It's just going into Pod Farm that there's not enough level to drive the amps. This is odd because you would think a complete Line 6 product would have this thing worked out.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but if I never figure it out I'll just have to be a "D.I. >> Amplitube" user.

On my system the level going into the standalone Pod Farm seems LOWER compared to first recording a clean guitar into a DAW, then applying a VST Pod Farm.

Toneport D.I. audio level too low on standalone Pod Farm?

I've noticed a weird thing. Even with my highest output guitars, it seems that the level to the front of the amp models is too low. Crunchy patches don't have crunch and seem too clean, while the high gain ones just don't seem to have that sizzling quality. The Eruption patch seems quite wimpy.

When I then crank up Overloud TH2, on the audio input meter the signal doesn't even register. I have to enable the microphone boost in the driver properties to get it to register in the "low" signal area of the meter. Overloud asks me to adjust the gain of the interface, but this is a Toneport D.I., there is no such capability. Same situation with Amplitube. And yes, the pad button on the front is NOT pushed in.

The fault is not in my 9 guitars or cables, they all check out. It is only for Tone Direct monitoring that is seems the D.I. is not sending a strong enough signal. HOWEVER.....I noticed that if I record the guitar clean into Reaper, and then apply Pod Farm as a VST after the fact, the signal is stronger. That leads me to think there is some level difference between real-time application of standalone Pod Farm and after the fact application of VST Pod Farm.

So what is my solution for standalone (which I use a lot)? What setting do I have wrong? I'm up to date on drivers. Should I run a boost pedal into the Tone Port? I'd hate to do that since there is no meter and I'd not be able to have a gauge of when I'd approach clipping the ADC, other than hearing it. Plus there's the issue of yet another analog transformation to the signal. Should I get a UX2? I'd lose my full Pod Farm as that is hard locked to to the Toneport D.I. Gold package and I'm certainly not interested in shelling out again for the full Pod Farm, on top of buying the UX2 (I wish I could transfer the D.I. licence to the UX2). Or should I just get a completely different interface?

Anyway I do like the EASE of the Toneport package, it's this standalone level issue that is bugging me. Like I mentioned earlier, standalone, real-time use of Pod Farm is something I do a lot, but the level from Toneport to Pod Farm seems to be too low. I've scoured through every setting to see if I've overlooked something. Any suggestions or insights would be appreciated.

Obviously uses the Hiwatt head and NOT the Plexi shown above), the cab is the Vox '67 AC-30 2x12.

This one works best with the middle/bridge, then middle/neck, and using 50s style low output pickups. I tried all the distortion boxes for some dirt character, but they just made it sound too mid-rangey, which was not my goal. If you need more grind, crank up the drive input to 10, back off for a cleaner sound. Pick close to the bridge for more spank, and don't be afraid to dig in with this one.
