If I recall, the Line 6 Monkey software will allow you to use your model pack license pack on up to 5 L6 devices.

Atomic Amps makes flat frequency response amps just for amp modelers. They do not color the sound like a traditional, midrange-happy guitar amp. Probably the best money you'll ever spend if you are making the switch from amps to modelers.

I haven't found a 'regular' guitar amp yet that sounds good with the Pod family. Sounds amazing thru a computer with high-end monitors and thru a PA.

That's gonna be tough. Fenders are so mid- and high-frequency happy.

Take an MP3 player and hook it up to the HRD on the clean channel. Tweak the knobs until the music coming out doesn't sound totally weird. You might not get all the way there. The tone-shaping qualities you love about the Fender are why it might not play well with a pod. But you might get close enough by using an MP3 player as a reference.

On the other hand, if your're playing out and your sound will be in a mix of drums/keys/vox/ect it won't make any difference to the crowd or bar management.

100.00 for a few dozen more virtual amps isn't that bad. I could see L6 doing a buy Metal Shop/get Collector's Classics free someday. But to just give the milk away for free, nah, that ain't happening.

I appreciate all the info--this is a cool online community. Went ahead & bought the Metal Shop/Collector Classic combo. For what I paid, even if I want to go HD in 6 months to a year, I'll get my money's worth. I can' t wait to start playing around with all these models.

Late to the party--just got a like-new Pod XT Live in a gear trade. It came with the FX Junkie pack. Works great, sounds good. Was never gigged out--all the rubber's still on the foot pedal, it doesn't smell like spilled 50 cent drafts, etc. It didn't take long to get some good sounds out of it.

But I think I'd really like the Metal Shop pack for my style of music. My question to you more experienced Line 6 gearheads is, at this point in time, considering the XT Live was a hot ticket 7 years ago, is it worth spending 50.00 on an XT-series, or is it just time to move into X3/HD territory?

I like the simplicity idea of just buying a pack & being done with it--no posting the XTL for sale, meeting with people, haggling, etc. But if the newer series are that much better I'll just move forward.

Thanks for any light you folks can shed on this.
